I can't believe I'm saying this, but I was wondering the exact same thing. What is the point? Is this just another avenue for people to vent? Hasn't that been done enough? Lucas will probably never release the OOT in a truely remastered format. I think it's just time to let it go and move on to other things.
Enjoy the copies you have in whatever way you prefer. It's time to give up on Lucas ever changing his mind.
