Don't worry about sending out a rough cut to people. That wouldn't be a good idea. The best way to keep interest in a project is to do like Adywan, little video surprises every now and then. This keeps up appearances that work is being done on the project, even though the actual work you should be doing is getting delayed (this actually reflects my situation, dunno about ady). In my Vintage Edit thread, I posted that clip of the color pass filter work after about ten seconds of fiddling with it, looks crappy compared to the polished shots I got going, but it was a great way to show I was actually still working and not letting the project drift into "vaporware" territory (looking at you, X0). I also posted screen-shots of my attempt at creating the original crawl using the GOUT, and explained the method. I might suggest a new trailer or something. These usually take maybe a few hours or so and give a great preview of how things are going.

All this talk of film and high school futures makes me want to start applying to USC again. You know the final freshman deadline is January 10th, God help you if you wanted to apply to the film school, that was December 10th. I can see the passion for film and music. I knew a guy who got his foot in the door, then came back because LA is so crappy. When you move down there to try and get in to the 'biz, don't let the crappiness of the people let you down. That's kinda what's been turning me off to a job in film lately... Anyway I hope you stick around the forums for a long time, just in case you make the big leagues and can hook us all up with some phatty connections. Anyone else up for an unlicensed complete Star Wars prequels remake? An OT.com production, mang!

Oh yeah, and remember to tie in your work on Attack of the Clones with your college essay or personal statements. I know I will, throw some nerdy obscure video editing terms their way, then just keep bringing it back to the same punch-line: "I gotta quit being such a nerd"
