Peter Jackson evidently IS returning for The Hobbit...sort of... — Page 2

Check out Dark Horizons where Gandalf weighs in. Personally I think he'd change his tune when they start talking about Ratner.

(Man I'm doing some nasty rumor-mongering on this one. But I seriously expect it unless something breaks Jackson's way.)

Any film version of the Hobbit that would leave out Beorn could never be considered the Hobbit.

Well, so of us are Jackson fans, so watch it . Besides, it's odds on that they'd pick someone worse.

Ratner? Sadly, it's very possible.

And Beorn, Tiptp? Well, I'd love it if he was included, but like Bombadil, I'd understand if he had to go for pacing reasons.

If McKellan and the gang stick to their guns and that article is right and Jackson does come back and make a killer Hobbit movie, I'd be incredibly happy, but I'm not holding my breath. Still, miracles happen, so we can always hope.

There is still hope. Those interested in politely making their feelings on the issue are advised to check out this contact list: http://www.theonering.net/perl/newsview/8/1164129588 (Why can't I get the blasted hyperlinks to work?). Flaming them with angry letters won't help, as I'm sure everyone here knows, but some intelligent constructive criticism would be good, and I know that TZers are up to it. Just FYI, in case anyone is interested. Cross your fingers. I'm not going to get my hopes up, but there's always a chance.

Beorn is perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of the story! That's why I'd almost want to see jackson make the movie. (I'm sure a guy like him could apreciate a story element surrounding a large, hairy man who can turn into a bear.)

I heard on the news today that PJ was back on board. Haven't been able to find any evidence in cyberspace yet though.

Maybe he was just wanting more money or something like that, and him and the studio cut a deal.

Hell, if he hadn't lost all that weight, he could've played Beorn!

Well here's the story, but it doesn't sound too convincing.

I heard a snippet of Elijah Wood on the radio just now, saying the same as the article, that the rights are, supposedly, leaving New Line and that PJ would very likely still be directing. Obviously he wasn't very forthright, as he's not really directly involved.

The "latest news" about Jackson being back is actually based on comments made by Saul Zaentz before New Line rejected Jackson. Indeed, it may have been because of Zaentz's comments that New Line figured Jackson was trying to wait them out and therefore let him go (although Jackson denies prior knowledge of the rights time-out).

Interesting. I'm not sure if this story confirms or denies that fact however.

Elijah Wood kinda looks a little gay but he really isn't. Peter Jackson is awesome!

boba, AFAIK, Zaentz commented again, since the New Line decision, which is where that story is from.

The second story boba feta linked to, which refers to Zaentz's quote to the New York Times from Italy (as opposed to the first story, which refers to his earlier quote from Germany).

I hope not... but if Raimi directs we might get to see Bruce Campbell as a boisterous dwarf

I need to get myself out there!

I'm probably the only one who is sad that they started working on this movie.

I hope Sam doesn't direct it. I'd rather Samwise direct it. a.k.a. Sean Astin. I know he would respect the look and feel of LOTR in making the prequels.
