I know there’s a few of these going on right now (the preservation project, and the “decampified” edit) but I’m trying to do something completely different.
I’ve already done the basic editing, but I think I might have to go back to the source and re-edit from the beginning because I think I’ve messed up.
Here’s what I have at my disposal:
DVD Decrypter
KCCI AngrySun DVD
Vegas Video 8 Pro
Womble
*I ripped from the angrysun dvd with dvd decrypter to a pristine lossless rip of the video, and had to convert the ac3 to wav so that I could edit it in vegas. did the video and audio editing simultaneously in vegas and now when I try to render the new 30 min cut, i get terrible quality (with interlacing/deinterlaced) lines during the video
What would be the right way to go about doing an edit that won’t lose any quality (from an already fairly “bad” source - I’m using the term lightly here since the KCCI broadcast is wonderful quality for an old VHS tape)?
I’d like to continue editing in Vegas if possible (for both audio and video), so should I do a new rip from the AngrySun dvd using ADM’s guide, or try editing in womble or even something else entirely? I just don’t want to lose the control I have over fades and audio edits, as well as number of tracks I can edit on simultaneously
Thanks in advance for the replies, and I can also update here on the status of the edit!
Right now the editing is done and here’s what is left:
-
I want to add in an opening crawl detailing the new storyline that I’ve edited together
-
Need better star field background to use for intro and to superimpose opening crawl onto
-
Create new title screen instead of using that crap one from the video
-
Perhaps do new character intro title shots from video in the special (to match the existing one, but not so long and maybe better shots?)
-
patch up stormtrooper raid intro
-
one or 2 audio glitches to fix
-
convert to matted widescreen to get rid of top and bottom VHS lines (if it doesn’t look too bad to do that)
Maybe someone can help point me in the right direction with how to do this…
