In my opinion the OT is flawless, storywise that is. The plot, the dialog, and the characters were all executed close to perfection. The true problem is that the PT is so heavily flawed storywise that it now makes the OT look like it's full of contradictions and inconsistencies.

That is exactly why I think going and messing with the OT lines is not a good idea. Getting everything to try and sync with the PT is really ridiculous. One can only screw up a great Trilogy in attempt to work with an absolutely horrendous trilogy.
