Having not seen a lot of the preview movies (thanks for re-linking those btw) I have to say I was really really impressed with the cantina aliens - blinking, frowning, looking angry - exceptionally done!

Wow,

There's a whole lot of new people joining OT.com at the zero hour of this edit... Where were all these people MONTHS ago? Glad to meet you all.

Hey ADY.

I havent commented in a while, but I still am following your progress. The screenshots on the first page look absolotely amazing. I am pumped for the release, however, my computer was hacked and I lost javascript along with a few other things. Hopefully I get it fixed by then.

Oh yeah. one critique if you dont mind. The screenshot that shows the Y-wing in the yavin hanger, the engine doees't appear to be connected to the hull of the ship. What do you think about this?

Damn, I don't know how i could have missed that. It's definitely just the front part of the Y-wing with the wing placed next to it though. Oh well.

With that Y-Wing, it's because of the angle, the engine is attached just out of (below) frame. Nothing is wrong with that shot as shown.

Hey all,

What I'm about to say is not an edit suggestion, just a random thought I've always had about the climax of Star Wars. Given the space battle over Yavin's clear count of the victims and the survivors, I've always been puzzled by the lone Y-Wing streaking away from the Death Star alongside the two X-Wings and the Falcon. Who is this dude and why wasn't he in the fight????

@Ady, the screenshots are amazing. You know just how to keep your fans interest piqued. I can hardly wait to see the new TIE battle.

@Nohandluke---That is a good point. I thought that many times myself. I think Ady already will have it covered with Wedge, Luke and the Falcon leaving. Do you think that should be the only ones leaving?

It's John the cowardly Y-Wing pilot.

rock n roll Ady!

It's looking awesome mate!

Just out of curiosity, what music did you end up using to fit the space battle?

or is it all very hush hush ?

thanks again a TON!

so are we going to be able to download this from a bit torrent site? I cannot wait to see this finished. I love the new clip with the tie battle.

hey ady, I like what you did with the aliens in the cantina. The facial movements make a huge difference. Do you plan on doing anything similar to yoda in ESB?

I think Sevb32 is right... Google a picture of a Y-wing and you'll see that the engines connect to the main body further down. I think the Y-wing in the hangar bay is fine.

Hey, reave, could you possibly please load those clips onto youtube or some other site. For some damn reason Rapid Share doesn't work on my laptop. I get sound but no picture.

Just got finished going through your whole updated list ady, whew. You're definitely in tune with the majority of Star Wars fans in what needed to be fixed. Well at least in tune with us old 1st generation fans who've been around since '77. The screen shots look great, can't wait for January.

Question, ady, when you finally completed this edit have you thought about maybe mailing a copy to Lucasfilm, LTD with a list of all the changes you made and why you made them? Perhaps adding a polite letter with some constructive criticism to Mr. Lucas as to why he didn't make these changes himself with all the money, power, and resources at his command.

Your problem isn't rapidshare, rapidshare is just the host from where you downloaded the video. When you view the video it isn't on rapidshare anymore but on your hard drive.....you more than likely need an updated video codec to view the video.

No offense but this would be extremely foolish. I seriously doubt Adywan would be that shortsighted. You seriously think mailing LFL a copy of a fan edit is a smart idea? Please no one do this as this would put undo pressure on this website and put Adywan in harms way. Why? Because unlike the majority of Star Wars fan edits, (which are fair and way better than I could ever hope to do), Adywan's is BETTER than the 2004 DVDs and puts LFL to shame. I don't know about anyone else but I am looking forward to Ady's ESB and ROTJ versions as well....

That is an exceptionally bad idea. Lucasfilm has been pretty leanient and gracious to the Fan Edit community. They could easily send a Cease and Desist order to Ady or anyone doing a fan edit that is planning on being released to the community. Sending in a copy of the edit could sour the relationship greatly. I'm sure sooner or later Lucas will get a copy via someone from within Lucasfilm...maybe lurkers.. or maybe even contributers to these boards.

Are the videos still all xvid?

Download ffdshow, if you use Windows, that should settle the problem.

I agree with vbangle and dumb kid. Bad idea to go poking the beehive.

Lucas does not seem to take kindly to suggestions. This reminds me of the whole Phantom Edit thing. He was going to be featured on Entertainment Tonight, and Lucas pre-empted that with last-minute Episode II footage. If you listen to the Phantom Edit commentary, you can hear that he is trying to reach out to Lucas and offer his services. Then listen to the commentary on Attack of the Phantom, and you'll notice a definite change in tone. He's bitter, critical, and almost resentful. I've always assumed that something happened between the scenes, along the lines of Lucas' lawyers coming down on him like a ton of bricks.

And let's not forget Lucas' recent letter to the fan club members: "I know that some of you haven't liked every single thing that I've done with the saga, and that you have a strong sense of ownership over all things Star Wars. But take that passion and devotion and channel it into a creative project of your own."

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Oh, I confess it probably wouldn't be wise. My reasons for the suggestion were out of spite towards Lucas just to show him what someone with Adywan's talents could accomplish on their own. Since '97 Lucas has become increasing arrogant, egotistic and power hungry beyond measure. Thanks to the less than stellar Special Editions and the absolutely atrocious Prequels the Star Wars Saga is no longer what it once was. I just like to see someone somewhere put Lucas in his place. Anybody who dares raises criticisms of Lucas is now dragged through the mud by his legal wolves.

I have started a thread as a sort of a wishlist for those two movies. Please add input.

Be patient, teharri, Adywan has expressed interest in "revisiting" both ESB and ROTJ. However it'll probably be a few months before he even starts on other projects. He's been working hard on ANH now for over 18 months and it has literally taken alot out of him. I imagine after he completes ANH in January he's gonna take a long vacation then maybe start on ESB in late summer '08.

All you new members who've jumped in here lately really have to cut Mr. Adywan some serious slack and stop breathing down his neck. I've lost count how many times over the past year plus that Ady has nearly killed himself to fix a certain shot or get a piece of music or sound effect to fit just right. He's lost money, equipment has crashed, memory has been erased, he's been ripped off by shading salesmen, and he's had some unpleasant health scares as well. He's not doing this edit for any gain whatsoever, he's doing it out of pure love for Star Wars. So stop banging on the table demanding more this and more that, if he's fixed this or altered that, and stop asking when he's gonna get around to the next episode. I'm anxious too for ESB and ROTJ but I have way too much respect for the man to scream in his ear. He's already promised more than I ever thought possible. Ady will get around to the other episodes in the saga when he's ready and not a moment before. He's one man doing the work of a hundred, everyone needs to calm down and give him a break.

Sorry for the rant. It just feels like this thread has taken on the feel of a daycare center with screaming children everywhere. Timeouts for everyone.

I would assume that the edits for TESB and ROTJ would be somewhat easier to make in comparison to Star Wars. The scope of both movies has already been expanded quite a bit. Maybe some work on the battle of Hoth, but that really would be it for expanding. Unless he wants to create a CGI Yoda for us.

Besides, I could really care less about the sequels. Star Wars has been the one Lucas has been tinkering with the most and, frankly, it's probably the most edited movie in this community as well.

One thing that I am truly amazed with is the reinsertion of the blaster impact shots. I see nothing to indicate that it came from the GOUT DVD's and I am left wondering where he got that footage from.
