I think it is kind of going to the 300 look. It is ashame because a serious adaption (along the lines of Lord of the Rings or Braveheart) of Beowulf could be something very worthwhile. But this film isn't aiming at the literary crowd or anyone who might have ever even considered reading the epic, but rather they are aiming at the same crowd as 300, anyone who will be blown away by the special effect, CG blood, and Angelina's bra size.
