Yeah, the more I play Metroid Prime (which don't get me wrong, I think is great) the more I realize that 2D is the best format for Metroid. You really loose something with the addition of the 3rd dimension. Metroid II for the GB is actually still a really cool game. I love the solitarity of that game. It feels very Alien-esque (as in the film, Alien), finding an empty shell, then stumbling across a Metroid a few screens later. Man, I love that game. The all black background on the monochrome Game Boy really gave it a great eerie feeling.
