I hate when people anachronistically match things to current events. Just like those idiots who said that 300, a ten year old graphic novel was clearly pro-war, pro-Bush propaganda. It is a two way street. V for Vendetta is a graphic novel from 1982 (and not even a graphic novel from America, and thus has very little to do with the US gov. then or now. It is more of a typical dystopian story, only with a comic book character fighting back via terrorism/anarchy. It is a pretty timeless idea). I imagine if 1984 were made into a film today hoards of people would say that it has to do with Bush being Big Brother. That is a bunch of crap. People really read too much into everything.
