Hey all, I'm new here but I caught the trailer off of the newsgroups and I just had to check this out. Just wondering when the full movie will be available?

Ady is shooting for early next year...

I have to admit that although Adywan said it doesn't look like until the start of the year that his edit will be out, it does not stop me from getting excited that today might be the day every time I log in...It is like when we were kids and you knew what you were getting a bicycle for Christmas or your birthday, but you still had to wait. Then when you got it, it was everything you wanted and more...

That is how I feel about this edit. Every little piece that Ady has shown has been amazing and I can't even imagine the feeling I will have when I watch it for the first time. It will be like a present that I have always wanted and finally received.

Ady, I keep thinking about how much patience you must have to work on this project. That alone is worthy of praise.

yeh, its looking less likely to be a 2007 release now, which is a shame because i really wanted this to be for the 30th anniversary. But i would rather take my time and get things done right rather than have to leave things out due to time constraints. If i can't get it out by X-mas then i will post a nice long preview prezzie for you all.

I have always tried to take a life lesson from Empire Strikes Back in waiting situations like these. Luke left Dagobah too quickly. He should have been patient as Yoda instructed. Had he been patient, he would have discovered that Leia and company escape without his help and he becomes the person they have to go back for, endangering all of their lives - "If you leave now help them you could but...you would destroy all for which they have fought and suffered." Ady, I am glad to hear that you are being patient and not shooting off for Cloud City prematurely.

The edit will be all the better for it, anniversaries be damned. In fact, I don't recall good things happening on any Star Wars anniversary year. In 1997 we got the lousy SEs. In 1987 we got a Hamilton Collectors Plate collection and a poster (not bad, but kinda lackluster too). In 1992 (15th), we got a few reprinted posters. In 2002 (25th), we got Attack of the Clones - bleck!!!! I almost went blind that day.

It bodes WELL that the Revisited edit is not taking place on an anniversary year.

Yeah, we all know what happens when a project is rushed and not allowed the time it needs to be finished properly.

Im sorry this is totally offtrack but I just have to comment about the ending in ESB. If Luke did not come to Bespin, Vader would not have had his entire attention on Luke , and therefore could have been the reason for the others to make an escape. Once Vader knew Luke had taken the "bait," Vaders attention completely shifted to Luke, He was Vader's main objective. Luke enabled the others to escape and in turn rescue him. I dont mean to sound like I had to make you wrong I just always thought of it like that, always good to hear other peoples opinion about these movies though, it often gives me a fresh look at them.

Ady I know you would do what you think is best but I agree completely with giving yourself more time to provide the best release you could rather than try and make a deadline

A very compelling theory. My outlook on ESB has been freshened. Thanks.

Ady, I was watching the new Death Star intro again and I thought it might be interesting to see maybe a shuttle or something drop from the Star Destroyer as it 'pulls up' to the station.

Thats a good suggestion Sluggo but those shots are in the bag now and i don't want to do anything more to them at this late stage.

Some good news.... i'm on the last 10 shots now. Worked my ass off this past week and everything worked out just the way i wanted them too so i'm pretty happy now.

I'd think saving and backing everything up would be a wiser course of action, But yeah I agree.

Good to hear.

Ady, I'm just curious, but what compression codec are you going to use for the final project? I don't remember if you have mentioned in it earlier posts or not.

Not too sure what you mean by this as I can only use Mpeg2 for the final DVD. But if you mean what codec will it be rendered to before encoding to mpeg2 then the complete project uses Lagaryth lossless codec which creates huge sized files, but with all the different encoding stages that this edit has had to go through, i haven't lost any quality at all. so far the edit has taken over 2.5TB of disc space. The Mpeg2 encoding will be done using CinemaCraftEncoder as this is the best software Mpeg encoder there is out there but will take about 24 hours to do a 9 pass encode, but the results are well worth it. I did a couple of test encodes this week: 1 for a DVD-9 and another for a DVD-5 and to be honest there is almost no noticeable difference in quality, which shows just how good CCE is .

Sweet deal. I'll still take DVD-9 out of principle.

My appologies Ady, I ment to say before the mpeg 2 compression to dvd. I remember you saying the project files were all loosless but I didn't know if you were going to compress the files before you converted them to mpeg 2. So everything stays looseless until it's compressed to mpeg 2, no compressing before that?
