I'm a Yanky boy and I have known what Guy Fawkes was long before I ever heard of V for Vendetta. You are correct though, most Americans had no freaking idea what it was before that movie, they may have heard of it, but doubtful they knew when it was or what it was about. So now that that movie is out, which popularized a 20 year old character who wears a mask resembeling the face of the 400 year old historical figure for Amarican audiences, it is funny to see that the Americans are the ones to point out the 5th of November.
