I would highly recommend trying out some of the free ones before paying for something. AVG is free, simple and it doesn't feel like it takes over your entire computer like other virus protection sometime do. You have complete control over it, and once you have it set up you will hardly remember it is there. Ad-aware is the same way, but even more simple that AVG. Between the two of these, I have never had any problems. I am sure some of the programs that you pay for might work better, or be an all-in-one solution, but why pay for what you can get for free. I have been using the free version of AVG Anti-virus for years, and I have noticed a lot more people seem to be switching over to it. Keep in mind, there is a premium version for both of these programs that does cost money, if you go to download it make sure it is the free edition.
