My wife's work had a Halloween party sort of thing for employees and their kids. It was mostly for the kids actually. They came dressed in their costumes and got free candy. Since we don't have kids, my wife was one of the ones organizing it and helping. Anyway, I dropped by for a bit to check on my wife and see how things were going, and I noticed that the most popular costumes this year are pirates, fairy princesses, superheros, and Star Wars. The demograph of kids ranged from infants to about eight or nine years olds. The thing that really surprised me was that mixed in with all the Jack Sparrows, Will Turners, symbiote Spideys, and buff Superman Returns supermen, were tons of little Luke Skywalkers, Darth Vaders, Princess Leias, a Chewbacca or two (though not a single Han???:confused, a fair number of Ewoks, and a couple of Boba Fetts. And that was only during the short time I was there. The only PT era Star Wars character I saw were two Anakins, both were really tiny kids, and a girl dressed as a Clone Trooper. Just those three. And I couldn't even count the number of Lukes, Vaders and Leias I saw.

I guess this shows how timeless the OT is when kids prefer to dress as OT characters rather than PT characters. I was really surprised, since most costumes were from very recent films (Spider-man 3, Pirates of the Caribbean), I would have expected more PT costumes.
