OK; now that I've seen RotK, I can update my list and order it somewhat: Kill Bill Vol. 1 Finding Nemo Dirty Pretty Things PotC Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas Once Upon a Time in Mexico RotK Something's Gotta Give-- what a smart and funny movie! School of Rock-- finally, a film about music in schools that isn't schmaltzy

Okay, since I've seen a few more movies, I'm revisiting my top ten (and I've reconsidered a few after watching them again)...
1. The Last Samurai - easily Cruise's best work, IMHO 2. Finding Nemo 3. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl 4. Lost in Translation 5. Open Range 6. Narc (not in wide release until '03; so to me here in Chicago, this is a 2003 release) 7. X2: X-Men United 8. Something's Gotta Give 9. Gangs of New York (not in wide release until '03; see above) 10. The Italian Job
And, this week or weekend, I'm going to see Big Fish and School of Rock (local second-run theater is playing it). So I may need to revisit yet again.

My friend the film snob prefers not to compile his 10 best list until he's seen all the films he wanted to see that were officially released in that year; that's why I suggested kicking them out. You could add them to your 2002 list.

Really? You don't know anyone who liked Gangs? Wow, I know tons of people who love it. Not just like... love. I thought it was spectacular. One of Scorsese's best (of course his real "best" is Goodfellas).

hmmm in no particular order (cuz its easier), just as i recall them
Kill Bill vol 1 X-Men 2 Terminator 3 Return Of The King Narc (bear in mind i live in the UK so it only came out in 2003 for us) Animal Factory Trilogy 1, 2 & 3 (a great series of french films) does that count as 1 or 3?? hehe Ripley's Game the Dancer Upstairs Pirates Of The Carribean
There we go, no order of favouritism, just movies I darned well enjoyed
Sean, waiting to see Big Fish this weekend. Will let you know.
DJJD, don't worry about Narc being in your 2003 top 10. It's in mine b/c it didn't come out in Chicago (or just about anywhere else save LA, NYC, Sundance, and Cannes) until January of 2003. Counts in my book.
