Are you in to RPGs with long story lines? if so you might like the Elder Scroll series nearly endless play ability and you can steal almost anything.

A buddy of mine recommended Oblivion to me just a couple of days ago, unfortunately none of the elder scrolls games are for the PS2 and my computer is a dinosaur who can barely run Halo 1 if I turn everything down to the lowest quality. Marrowind might work, but I think my system would choke to death on Oblivion. I beat God of War, I was surprised how easy the end battles turned out to be. Honestly that room with the spinning wheels and conveyor belts where you have to fight the harpies and the archers was by far the hardest part of the game for me, it took me days to beat that part, much harder than the Ares and the evil Kratoses.

Hehe, SSB Brawl is looking to be fantastic. A much bigger upgrade than melee was and at least another excuse to spend a lot of time with my friends.

Yeah. SSM Brawl is pretty gay. Super Sado-Masochism is for queers.

If that was true I'd be too curious not to check it out.

Anybody seen the new Super Mario Galaxy screens up at IGN?

This game is gorgeous. Nobody oughta complain about the Wii's relative lack of power after they see SMG in action.

Assassin's Creed is looking better and better as well.

Well, at least now we know Scout trooper isn't serious and that he has just been taking a piss on us this whole time. That was a pretty funny post. I almost craped myself laughing when I read that Fifa 08 and Project Gotham Racing were the best games around. So, Scout trooper, now that your out of the closet, what kind of games do you really like?

Oh, something I thought I would share, I finally buckled down and spent forty bucks on a used Gamecube and am rediscovering the world of Nintendo. I beat Star Fox Assult and was horribly disappointed at how short and easy it was, glad I just barrowed it instead of buying it. I bought Wind Waker and am likeing it a lot more then I ever thought I would, my only complaint is the weird freeze framing/slow motion thing it does when you are fighting an enemy. Really irritating. I bought Metroid Prime for 5 bucks, incredible game, I am amazed how well they translated that Metroid to 3D. Best five bucks I have spent in a long time. Also I ordered SSB Melee, it should come in the mail next week. Believe it or not, I have never played that game before, but I am an old veteran of the original Super Smash Bros. for the N64. I may not have a Wii, but since I have been out of the loop of all things Nintendo even sense the end of the 64 era all these things are all new to me. Funny though how I am just about to start experiencing Melee, while you all are anticipating the next in the series.

I hear ya. I haven't been out of the Nintendo loop, but, for some reason, I have yet to get Super Smash Bros. Melee. I always see it in the store and say, "I really should get that sometime," but I never do. And I'm a big fan of the original. I don't know what it is. I guess it's all those memories of my friends kicking my ass whenever I'd play Melee. Of course, if I actually had it myself, I'm sure I'd get better at it.

Boy, if that's not an ignorant statement, I don't know what is. I'd say more, but sean's picture captures the mood too well for words.

Don't feed the troll, Gaffer.

Instead, let us talk about how awesome the Wii is. Anybody else have Metroid Prime 3 yet? It's not as good as the first game, but the controls are incredible. They take a bit of getting used to, but once you have, the running and gunning controls better than any console FPS I've ever played.

My Wii is at home right now because I haven't played it in a while, but now I'm really upset that it is because of the REAL Super Mario Bros. 2 being released to the Virtual Console! As soon as I get a chance, that is definitely going to be my first VC purchase.

Um, couldn't be more off. But while we are making lame pathetic minded assumptions, I bet you probably don't have too many friends on account of your obsessive "I'm fucking awsome and
think I know everything" attitude.

But, I am more realistic than that, and I know I couldn't possibly guess what you are really like in the real world, why even try? As for sad wankers, I find it to be some pretty sad wankering when someone has such a hard on for sports games and such an inflated view of his own opinions of what it good and what is not that he feels he is doing the world a favor by insulting them when they don't share his tastes.

As for playing childish games, I guess I don't see Metroid, Mario, Zelda, or Star Fox that childish. Sure, I have been playing those games since I was a child, so perhaps my interest in them is more on the nostalgic point. But I would say that they are all pretty timeless and ageless. I bet you couldn't beat either of two original Zelda games, the original Metroid or Star Fox. Mostly because I am pretty sure the NES/SNES days were before your time, and second all those games are pretty tough, especially Metroid and Zelda II. These are the games I grew up playing, so their modern successors are of interest to me for that reason. Even if I were over wieght and I were thirty, why would that make me a sad wanker? If I were skinny and thirty would it make it any better? Or if I were seventeen and over weight, would that be just as bad? The cool thing about Mario (and things like Super Smash Brothers), is that they are pretty ageless, anyone ought to be able to pick them up and enjoy them at any age. I am secure enough with my adulthood to pick up a Mario game and play it from time to time.

That is the coolest thing about the Wii, the ability to play all those old games. Though now that I have a Gamecube, I can't say I am very fond of the controller. I can imagine it being a challenge to play SNES and N64 games on. Perhaps I am not yet use to it and my opionion will change over time, but for now I would even hazard to say that it is one of the worst console controller designs to come out of the last few generations of console gaming (other than possibly the tiny pithy original PS1 controller before the analogue revision). Its c-stick is just akward, the z button could not be in a worse location, and the straying from the traditional four button diamond layout (such as A, B, X, Y on the snes controller, the directional C buttons on the 64, and the PSx's square, circle, triangle, and cross buttons), it was a great button layout. The small B button, the larger A button and the semi-oddly placed X and Y buttons just doesn't make much sense to me.

One thing I do like about the GC controller though is the shoulder buttons, I love the way the feel and the way in which they feel when you press them. I loved the layout of the N64 controller, I wish it was compatible with the Wii, it would be much better than the GC controller for emulation.

The N64 controller would be ideal for playing any type of NES or SNES game. With its d-pad, shoulder buttons and c buttons it is very similiar to the old SNES controller layout. With the d-pad and the A and B buttons it would work grea for regular NES or Gameboy games.

The Wii's classic controller is pretty cool looking, I can see it working great for NES and SNES, but I can't imagine it feeling right playing 64 games with it.

Funny, I feel the opposite. I mean, it's not as good as the Dual Shock, but the Gamecube controller is overall very comfortable. The C-Stick is kind of awkward at first, but the main stick is the best in the business. I like it a lot better than the X-Box or X360 controller, at least.

The original Xbawks controller was one of the worst, so big only the biblical giants themselves could use it and they were reported to have cramps sometime afterwards. Some other ones I heard were bad but never played with were The Atari Jaguar and The Philips CD-I.

Yeah, those look like they would suck.

As far as good D-pads go, the companies now need to get Sega to show them how to make 'em right. Sega systems had the best D-pads in the business back in the day.
