Hi guys,

This is gonna seem a pretty pointless thread to some but i just wanetd to vent.

2 hours ago, I found our beloved cat Gizmo dead in the road outside our house. Obviously the victim of a hit n run he was in a hell of a mess. My girlfriend and I are in pieces, and i don't even know why I'm posting this here, but yeah, whatever

love you gizzy, miss you

That's terrible man, I totally sympathize. I hate to imagine the day I'll have to bury my cat, he's my best pal, and he's like my wife's child. Just remember the good times, memories are the best thing. Again, so sorry to hear this.

I sympathize with you daveytod. I too like cats and I find it sad when these things happen. This thread is not that pointless.

wow, that sucks! I've been through it and I'm sure I will again. It makes me feel depressed more than anything else. It's bad enough when a [much loved] pet dies but it's much worse when they either become ill or are stuck down like that.

You are posting it here because you feel bad and need to vent. What is the point in an off topic section if you can't post things like this? Very sorry to hear about Gizmo, that is really sad.

Thanks for all your kind comments guys.

I'm 31 years old but this Gizzy was my (and our) first proper pet. The kicker to this whole thing is that we got a new kitten last friday, a little noisy 6 week old shitbag. Obviously, at first, Gizzy was a bit put out by this, however just yesterday he was slowly starting to come round, but now my girlfriends is stricken with guilt over the possibility that he died feeling replaced and unhappy.

The bright side is that he came from a rescue home, so at the very least the life we gave him (he was one spoilt cat) was a lot better that the one he was due to have

I see no reason for you or your girlfriend to be guilty. He was a cute happy fat cat, he lived a great life. I'm sure he was smart enough to know he wasn't being replaced, the fact that he was slowly starting to come around is a great sign, that would indicate to me that he accepted the addition to the family, knew it was no threat to him, and now had to figure out how to establish his superiority and dominance. He was already over that "feeling replaced" feeling, believe me I've had cats my whole life. Always one or two even since I was a baby. I've had Sulley for right at 6 years now, Savannah just got added this May. I went through all of that and I assure you Gizzy didn't die with pain in his heart, he was mearly plotting how he was gonna show this kitten who's boss. You call that new kitten a shitbag now, but you'll feel the same way about that one soon I'm sure.

That's a very beautiful-looking cat, and I'm sorry he had to be taken away so suddenly and thoughtlessly. But know that you had a great companion who loved you and whose memories you'll treasure for the rest of your life.

That cat is so cute and beautiful. You were very fortunate to have such a wonderful feline as an animal friend daveytod. I again say I feel sorry for your cat. I thank you for starting this thread. It is good.

I'm sorry to hear that your cat has passed away; I would not know what to do if I just lost my dog like that out of nowhere.

picked gizzy's ashes up from the vet yesterday, came in a very nice ceramic pot, but cost us £150!!!
