Around 2-3 years ago, hotel ppv systems were commonly used as sources for pirate "SCREENER" copies. Typically the releases were presented as 4:3 pan and scan and were free of any watermarks or "property of" messages. All it took to make a copy was a laptop with a USB TV tuner.

I haven't stayed in a hotel recently, but I would expect these days that their ppv systems have encryption and tamper alarms to stop illegal copies being made. The fact that there hasn't been a scene SCREENER release of Grindhouse is a good indication that it's not as easy as it used to be.
