I wonder if something like this would work? I know it would be a really short movie… but, here’s my idea:

Rob Zombie’s movie ends after he breaks out of the prison and maybe the violence is toned down.

John Carpenter’s film just has the first killing (when he’s a boy) removed. Opening credits, then a subtitle that says “15 years later” instead of “1978” and the film continues with them driving to the prison to find out Michael escaped. Something like that…
