Anybody ever notice the audio drop-out on ROTJ?

Someone on the Home Theater forum just mentioned that he noticed a left-channel audio drop-out at 1:52:30 on the GOUT Jedi DVD (during the duel scene).

It's also on the "face" LD in the exact same spot.

I haven't checked the DC LD yet.

I just thought it was odd that after all these years, I wasn't aware of anyone mentioning it until now.

EDIT: I checked the "face" VHS tape, and the drop-out is there too. Definitely on the master.

I believe it is when Lando is just about to fly into the Deathstar, and the sound cuts. On my surround sound system, it actually sounds like my speakers are swallowing up the sound instead of shooting them out in my room.

Speaking of audio oddities in ROTJ, on my old SE VHS (and I think on one of my DVDs too) Lando says "she" when assuring Han that the Falcon will be fine. "she-she won't get a scratch."

It's actually during the duel, just as Luke goes nuts and is about to finish off Vader (1:52:30). The sound on the left channel cuts off for a second. It's more obvious when you listen on headphones.

Ships are very often referred to as "she". But is does sound like he's stuttering a bit.

Well I knew about the she thing; I just found it odd that it sounded like he said it twice.

It almost sounds like he's trying to say "See she won't get a scratch" or "sure she won't get a scratch" but got a bit tongue-tied.

Exactly. Strange thing is, I think I saw a GOUT faces VHS at a friend's house that didin't do that.
Heh, the things we discuss here...

LOL! Are you sure? I'll have to check that now, too.

Well, with the subtitles on, Lando's line reads, "I'll take good care of her. She won't get a scratch," so that's not much help.

Personally, I always thought he said, "I'll take good care of her, so she won't get a scratch." As Mielr pointed out, though, he probably got a little tongue tied.

Like, "she sells sea shells by the seashore".

I believe that was actually supposed to be the original line, and was to be followed by a 10-minute long segment of Leia down by the beach, but that it was removed due to pacing reasons.

There is another audio blip at around 37:01 as we segue to the Death Star for the Emperor's arrival.
