the truly most distressing aspect of the prequels and everything star wars these days is the George Lucas of today is not the same as the one who created the trilogy back then.

i mean look at the documentary from star wars to jedi. lucas says in it and i'm directly quoting him. "a special effect is just a tool. a means of telling a story. people tend to confuse them as an end to themselves. a special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing".

this cannot be the same Lucas who supposedly finally got his original vision with the fake cgi of the special editions and the prequels. especially the prequels which are a special effect without a story, almost.

"A SPECIAL EFFECT WITHOUT A STORY IS A PRETTY BORING THING"

i wish lucas had remembered this and hollywood took it at face value. sadly the fake cgi pushed forward by ilm is the only thing movies seem to be about these days. never a story. or if there is one the story seems to be an afterthought, merely a commentary on the special effects or an accompanyment. effects used to be used sparingly and to enhance the story not the other way around.
