Actually I used a general rule of thumb that 1MHz = 80 lines of resolution.

So:
DVD 6.75MHz x 80 = 540 lines.
Laserdisc (in theory) 5.5MHz x 80 = 440 lines, in practice even the best players "crap out" (as Laserman put it) above 5MHz, so the figure is probably nearer 400.
