Does anyone know a way that I can download/record/rip the following file? It is an .ram stream on an rtsp site. I have no experience messing with Real files.
original link - http://soundprint.org/streamIt.php?stream=documentaries/w/world_at_your_fingertips.rm link in .ram file - rtsp://soundprint.org/documentaries/w/world_at_your_fingertips.rm
If someone who has the time and know-how could even go that extra step to download this, convert it to mp3 and then reupload it somewhere for me, I would really appreciate it. I am going to be at work all day and won't have a chance to work on this, but my wife needs it for a class she is teaching.
Here it is, in a zip folder on Megaupload, 44.93 Megabytes. Includes both the original RM stream and the stream encoded into a 192kbps MP3 file. Enjoy.
@ sunday256: After a while, I finally got the raw FLV stream. The problem is I can't figure out how to convert it. Every single one of my programs I have tried so far is running into problems; I suspect they may have but some copy protection in. I'll keep trying, but if nothing else I'll at least upload the FLV; you can still watch it in FLV player and VLC.
@andy_k_250: No problem. I did it simply with HiDownload without a problem. HiDownload
EDIT: SUCCESS! I think I just figured out how to convert it sunday256, I have to go play tennis now, but I will put it up later.
Well... I may have spoken too soon. In a way, I *can* convert it, but the audio and video is off. The video does not start for 10 seconds, no matter what format I tried, and believe me, I tried a lot. So I guess I'll just upload the original FLV, and the unsynchronized other formats. The problem seems to be that when I open the original in FLV Player, it starts at "Time = 10 seconds," which is what must be messing my encoders up. It'll be up in a little bit.
EDIT: Never mind the above, I just did it! For now, I am just putting a ZIP file on Megaupload with the original FLV file and the converted AVI file. I know that you mentioned a MOV or WMV file earlier, but they came out pretty big, and for speed's sake, I will just put the AVI up. AVI is pretty common, so you should be able to play it. If you need a MOV or WMV format, let me know and I will put it up also.
Actually the video only would be fine. I'll replace the audio with the audio from the CD. The capture they have is a bit sharper than my old VHS copy. So if however you want to put it up is fine.
I'm trying to remember how I did it... I tried everything I knew, but if I remember correctly, I think it was finally a program called "Orbit Downloader." Yeah, that was it, here's the site: http://www.orbitdownloader.com/. There was some tool in there to get it, and then I used SUPER to convert it.
