Any luck with correcting the pink highlight?

I never experienced that error. Let me try to create this thing again using the files I put back in the first post and get back to you. So the highlight doesn't highlight what you are trying to select?

Actually it does appear but it is off sync with the buttons after I go to the "Backstroke of the West" menu.

Hey all, I have a few questions here. I DL'd the backstroke kit from the link at the start of the thread, and I of course have Episode III on WS dvd. After reading the MS Word how-to, I am a little confused on a few things though.

First off, why do I have to use the AC3 2.0 Audio track? Is there a specific reason I have to use it, or can I use the AC3 5.1 audio track? Second, since the how to tells me the files to rip in I use the AC3 2.0 track, how do I know what to rip if I use the 5.1 (if it even works).

Ok, 3rd. The dvd is of course copy protected. I do not have as SmartRipper or PGCdemux, and if they are not freeware, I am unable to purchase them right now. How do rip it, it being copy protected. I am familer with using decrypting programs like rip it 4 me, dvd decryper, dvdfab decrypter, etc. Can I just use a program like that? Is there a reason it HAS to be SmartRipper or PGCdemux? I am really confused on what to do here on this part.

Maybe I'm thinking too much into it, but if someone could help me I'd appericate it. This looks freakin hilarious. I'd love to get it put toghter so I can check it out.

You could probably use the 5.1, I just assumed most would want to put this on a DVD-5 and I just thought 2.0 would fit better.

You could probably use another program, as long as it creates ac3 and m2v files. SmartRipper is also in that first post.

As soon as I grab my Star Wars DVDs from my parents house, I will create a new disc since I lost the first one I made anyway.

Alright, I might have to give it a try. I'll have to DL smart ripper, though the dvd is copy protected,. Will that program work, or do I have to burn an unprotected copy using another program and then use smart ripper? If I were to put this on a DVD9, would I have issues with creating a layer break? I have a few extra DVD9's laying around, so that's why I was thinking about giving the 5.1ex a try. I'm not sure what I have that might create ac3 and m2v files, though I'd image I have a few in this mess of stuff I have aquired over the years (that I'm still trying to learn, lol). Sorry for the questions. I'm still kinda new at this, and don't want to screw it up. I don't want to end up with another coffee coaster.

You lost your disc? That sucks. At least you can create a new one. I usually keep 2 copies of discs. The original disc and a backup copy (just in case) that I put in a big cd/dvd case of backup discs. If you're creating a new disc, care to try it with the 5.1EX and tell me how it works?

I've never messed with DVD-9's before so I can't help ya there. SmartRipper should unlock the disk for you. I'll try it with 5.1 the next time.

Alright, thanks. If I do decide to try it with a DVD9, I'll let you know how it went

The pink menu highlights are not aligned when I watch this (4:3 television). When I switched one of the display settings on my dvd player (from 4:3 letterbox to 4:3 pan & scan IIRC) then the pink highlights are aligned properly, although the menu is streched a bit off-screen. So it has something to do with formatting. No big deal for me.

So I've just completed my own version of "Backstroke of the West" based on marioxb's guide. Mine is a little different in that I created a new DVD menu and added the RiffTrax audio track. Oh, and I redid the subs based on the original text file posted here. The subs were out of sync in a lot of places so I resynced them up. Here are my results:

Yeah, yeah, it's a fullscreen menu. The image I used fit better that way and I didn't care enough to try something else. I threw the "A Lost Hope" spoof on there as well just for good measure.

When I started this project and successfully completed marioxb's guide, I realized that I wanted to customize everything for myself, including the subs. I searched forever to try and locate a text version of the subs, and eventually by dumb luck found the link posted on that blog page. As it's been a few years since marioxb's original project, I'll go ahead and post my sub files here for your enjoyment.

The instructions to create this are basically the same as those found in marioxb's guide. Use Muxman to mux the subs with your ripped m2v, ac3 files, and chapter file, and you're all set. Adding menus is a little tricker and it's probably best to find a good tutorial on it using your favorite program. The way I did mine was with a combination of Mac and PC software, so I won't go into it here.

If anyone uses these files, I'd love to hear about your results.

Nice job Zion... looks fantastic. Too bad I'm too lazy to put in the effort to put something like that together right now. ;P

Hey, wow. This is the first I heard of your version of this! Looks great! I think I will make your version the "definitive" version from now on. I still, to this day, haven't watched the full movie with the BSOTW subs, even though this was my project, LOL.

There was a torrent somewhere that had a 720p version of the fandub based of the Backstroke subs, along with the original english track and subs. Try looking for "Star Wars Episode 3 - Backstroke of the West (HiDt)"
