1. Depends on what the "medical treatment" is. A doctor cannot refuse treatment (at least in California). You might get stuck with a giant bill, but you won't be refused treatment. I guess I would want to know how/why the parents have no medical insurance (ie what situations arose that they decided to have a child without having the ability to take care of the child). That's mostly because I just can't imagine bringing a child into this world without having the ability to take care of it.

Well what about a woman living in poverty that gets raped?

What does it mater that parents were to stupid to have the kid. Why punish the kid for the parents mistake?

Lordjedi you're a cold hearted jerk.

We have this thing called adoption. Lots of children need good homes. Just because some asshole rapes a woman, does not mean we should blame the resulting child.

On the other hand, if a couple is not financially stable, they should know better than to bring a child into this world. Children are expensive. The hospital copay alone is $100 with insurance. Do you have any idea how much it costs for a 3 day stay in a hospital to have a child? 3 days is the max you can stay for a C section and it's thousands of dollars. So unless you get raped, you shouldn't even be considering having children if you're not insured (unless you're a millionaire without insurance or something like that).

My upbringing dictates that people be responsible about sex. That means considering the consequences before even engaging in the act. It means that all actions have consequences. If you're not willing to deal with the consequences of your actions, then don't do those actions. Abortion is not dealing with the consequence of a pregnancy.

I understand that people fall on hard times. I also understand that a lot of people want a hand out or want to blame the government for their misfortune. I also understand that education doesn't stop once you graduate high school or even get a degree. Everyone has to prove themselves day in and day out.

As I said, if it's an emergency, of course the child should be treated. However, who gets to decide what an "emergency" is? Also, who's going to pay for it?

I am not cold hearted, I just expect people to take responsibility for their actions.

You say you're 29. So, what do you do for a living? Are you married/dating? What's your level of education? And I thought you were leaving? WTH?
