When this hits in November, Ady will forever be the mastermind behind it and I thank him for this revived Star Wars experience. At the same time, thanks to each and everyone participating in this thread who either gave a donation when the chips were down or anyone whose fast eyes found a flaw or glitch the rest of us didn't see that Ady could add to his list of improvements. I never saw that plastered door behind Chewie in the cell block but someone here did - and that's just one of hundreds of examples. All of you have really gotten me into Star Wars again without resentment, a feat I didn't think possible.
Ady put in the time and sweat and talent, but this will also be superior because other eyes were scanning the old footage too and we have an artist without any negative ego who was willing to listen.
I take my hat off to all of you. Now, I wait for November.

Sabers look great, soldier getting hit by lazer is excellent, the falcon in hyperspace is great fun, the R2 lights look flawless, the R2 falcon background is also flawless, the "asteroid field" is great, the deathstar battle is...well, I just about pissed my pants, and Chewy's medal is the perfect ending!

I'm sorry to see this post so late in it's developmental stages. I've always steered clear of home made fan stuff and didn't give it a second thought. I noticed the latest trailer on usenet and it was great aside from the checker board of tie fighters, that gave me a chuckle. That post made me come here to see if there's any info and of course... Anyway, this looks like a quality project and I am afraid to ask if it's being edited entirely in MPEG2 480p or if 1080i assets are being utilized. There was a killer quality German H.264 New Hope 1080i broadcast back in December of 2006 and at the very least I hope most of the elements for this project were taken from that and not limited to DVD. I've sifted through as much of this thread as I could but after an hour I couldn't tell what the original quality of the assets were or if they came from anything better than DVD. I hope for preservations sake this final project will be available in 1080p and edited in 1080p in addition to standard 480p DVD authoring. There's so much 1080P star wars out there now besides anything I've done so the quality source material has been there. Anyways, congratulations on a very popular and long awaited fan project! If this turns out to be 1080P you'll have one legendary release on your hands.

There is SO much to love here. The blaster hits, the brilliant lasers, the amplified ships and battles, the Alderaan asteroid field, the in-cockpit look at the hyperspace wormhole, Chewie's medal, blinking Greedo.....
Adywan, it looks like you have given the fans something that Lucas and his million dollar minions were unable to(or unwilling to).
Bravo. I cannot wait until this is available.

Anyways, It looks fantastic... I really am anxious to see it finished... I was curious however why your trailer had a cue in it at the incorrect pitch lol drive me crazy you people do with your pitch shifting! lol

Unfortunately, Wookie Groomer, the HD versions available when i started this project weren't the best of quality so it will be standard DVD def only. I am using the better quality HD footage for all the latest FX work on the Death Star battle because it retains a lot ore detail when resized to 720 x 576 than the original DVd version. Also the edit so far has filled up 5 hard drives so if i had worked with the HD footage for everything i would have run out of space within the first couple of weeks. lol. It would ahve been ideal but too much work has already been completed to do a HD version, sorry.
Some good news now though. the funds finally went through with paypal so i got the final drive needed today. Went to my local Pc shop and purchased a 500Gb SATA-II drive so i now have enough space to finish the edit. a major big thanks to you guys. But thats not all. i can't believe my luck today. The store is running a promotional give-away prize draw thingy. because i spent over £60 i could chose 2 of the numbers they have printed on this board with the chance to win a prize. Well for some reason i chose 11 & 38 ( i wonder why) and i won with 38. I was expecting some sort of t-shirt or mug but no.... a bloody brand new ATI PCI-E X1950 pro graphics card. I have to admit i never liked the ATI cards and have always been a Nvidia man myself but this thing rocks( more so because it was free) . If i had been buying a new card (which i didn't need because mine wasn't that old and still did everything i needed it to anyway) i wouldn't have gone for an ATI but this changed my mind. I guess i'm still buzzing at the fact that i chose 1138 and won. Maybe its karma. lol
anyway i was going to have a well earned week long break away from the edit but now i'm buzzing too much i just want to work my ass off and get this out there.

OK now a question, did you do anything to Walrusman. (I know his name is panda buba or whatever) but to me he is always Walrusman However I think the mask is one of the things that has suffered over time, it really looks like paper mashie.

I'm new around here and I've just read this thread with great interest (partially, I'm not crazy :-P).
The thing is that I've seen the duel with music and that has made me remember a very old edit attempt of mine. I also used music from the PT, including Battle of the Heroes. Here is the very rough result of that experiment (original music can still be heard at some points). I thought you might find it useful in your consideration for the music.
