That is the spirit of the Prequel trilogy not the original Trilogy. Cheesy acting was everywhere, the sets were computer generated and looked cheaper than the OT's sets, and to name a few throwawy charcters: Jar Jar, Panaka, Ric Olley, Mas Amedda ( stupid character design and completely usless), Dexter Jetster ( Could have gotten the information in 5 seconds from a dang computer. Even Dexter himself questions why the archive droids didn't have the information.), and Captain Typho. Those characters were not needed. Yes, the OT has characters like this, but the OT has enough good to negate the uselessness of it's throwaway characters.
