The thing with any of the deleted scenes as they exist at the moment is that there is no possible way they could be inserted into any edit using the 2004 DVD or HDTV as a source is that they would stick out like a sore thumb. don't forget these are from a very low resolution source, using either 12 or 15 frames per sec (can't remember which) which results in a non smooth playback. No matter how much restoration you do on these scenes they could never be put back into the film. Now if the rumours of the Christmas box set are true then hopefully these scenes will be available in true DVD resolution and quality and could be reinserted back into the film but that will never happen with this edit. Adding these scenes back in would slow the pacing of the beginning of the film down . I'm sure i read somewhere that the original cut was more about Luke where as the cut as we all know it is more of the droids story. So to add these scenes back in would require the film to be heavily edited to flow naturally (which may require new scenes). Who knows, if the deleted scenes to emerge then i may want to tackle an edit like this, which would be fun, but for now there will be no deleted scenes added.

Now on to the edit. I'm having hell with adobe after effects at the moment. The damn thing keeps freezing then crashing when doing any FX work. I can work on it for ages then all of a sudden it will just freeze and dies. luckily i have auto save on but even then i still lose a lot of what i have done. one shot that is only 1 1/2 seconds long has taken me 3 days to get to 80% complete. At this rate the death star battle will take me years to complete. i think I'm going to do a complete reinstall and see if this cures the problems but this will have to wait until i complete this shot just in case anything changes once i've done this. i'd hate to have to start from scratch for this shot.
