To put it simply, the jump is too flashy and not at all in keeping with Dooku's style. Dooku is a classy, serene kind of villain, not a Darth Maul type.

If I may beat a dead horse here, I think adding in a backgroud sound of footsteps (slow, methodical footsetps) while the Jedi have their banter with Palpatine is the way to go. It will obviously convey that Dooku walked down the steps, while adding to the tension of the scene.
