I always assumed that the LPs were just edited down.....do they in fact contain music not present on any of the CD releases? (other than just being heavily edited versions?)

I'm guessing the last three digits are "-541" but I can't make out what's before it from the photo.
My own copy purchased in '77 or '78 says 2T-541; however, I don't think mine is a 1st-pressing since it came without a poster.
I'm wondering if yours is an older or newer pressing, or possibly a record club issue with alternate catalog number ?
I appreciate your sharing it (since I'm too lazy to order a new belt for my turntable.)
However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

I'm not sure if you're all aware, but the LP rips as far as I've heard, sound sooo much superior to the other releases. The Anthology has a lot of hiss, and the SE has a lot of problems...
For one, the ESB tracks are slightly faster than they should be... bad digital transfer...
Also, one of the editors flipped channels on all the cues he edited... not all the channels, just the horn channels... which makes it IMPOSSIBLE to reverse. I've wanted to go back and clean this score and re-master it CORRECTLY... but I havn't found a good LP rip yet. I was going to offer my services in this if you are all interested but it seems you all have it covered.
I'm watching this thread very anxiously because I want to see what the final product is like. I guess it's my ignorance of how this forum works, but Iknow you all said that you have the torrents up. Do I simply look for Empire Strikes back on Utorrent or something? If someone in the know could help me, that would be greatly appreciated. I would also offer to host the files myself to alleviate this torrent business. I say that because I'd like to use this to make a new set. so again... if someone in the know could pm me about this... I'd love to be of some help.
Is it not sad that in this time, we are more surprised by acts of love than acts of hate?

They are just edited down. There is nothing on them that isn't present on any CDs. They are what I grew up with so it's fun to listen to from time to time.

Star Wars catalog # is 2209-541. I remember having the poster, but have long since lost it.

According to a couple of online auction sites that's the Canadian catalog number -- which makes perfect sense after viewing your user profile.Star Wars catalog # is 2209-541. I remember having the poster, but have long since lost it.
In case anyone is curious what the poster looked like:

That's a nice poster. I got my SW LP in 1982 or 1983 and they had stopped putting the posters in by then. (Mine has the RSO label, instead of the 20th Century Fox label).
I do have another poster, though, one that I got from a sci-fi shop a long time ago- it's a promo poster for the SW soundtrack, and it looks just like the Vader face on the back of the LP cover but it's printed on silver mylar which looks really cool.

It is a good idea to keep most of the original Vinyl cover feel.

OK, here is a preview of the CD covers I made for these. I still haven't redone the ESB front, if anyone has a nice high res version of that poster or image used I would be happy to redo it. The ones I have are kinda crappy and pixelated. otherwise I'll up these soon. I tried to keep them close to the album covers, yet make them all sort of similar to each other. let me know what you think.

Ironic that the Star Wars cover has Vader's ESB helmet, while the ESB cover has Vader's ANH helmet.
You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

I substituted the pic for the SW back cover. the picture was close enough, although i realised that the helmet was different. i just found a good version of the poster that was used for the original album back for SW. it is a bit cloudy much like the vinyl release. I'll replace it and see how it looks.
as for the ESB cover, yeah that was the image used on the advance poster for ESB, so I guess they just used an image from SW.

This is the art you need for the SW back cover (this is the mylar poster I described above):
