Boon, I am really sorry to hear about this. I hope things work out okay. I don't have any kids of my own, so I can only imagine how difficult this must be. You'll be in my thoughts.

Boon, this is really tragic. I hope she makes a quick recovery, and that there are no lasting effects of this accident. When she gets stablized let her know that we are thinking of her and hope she makes a quick recovery.

That's terrible. I hope she's doing alright.

I'll be praying as well.

Damn. I may never have met Boon, but it is a tragic situation when a loved one is hurt or injured. I pray that your daughter gets better soon.

Thank you so much for your support. My daughter had her 2nd surgery yesterday and it went very well. She will be alright. The day of the accident was the worst day in both her and my life, because I was right next to her when she crossed that road at a green traffic light for her and that truck driver passed his red light because he was in a hurry and must have thought she would sport him to brake. But it could all be worse, much much worse. And since it isn't, I am kind of thankful.

Glad to hear she is going to be all right, Boon. If you don't mind me asking, what were her injuries?

Ouch. That does sound like a lot to be thankful for, considering. Hopefully no unforeseen problems will arise. What speed was he going and what kinds of injuries did she suffer?

The thought of running red lights makes me feel ill. People's lives are at stake. I've done it once before by accident and felt so disgusted with myself at the time. I could not understand doing it on purpose.

her injuries are:
a skull fracture on the left side (slight)
a heavily bleeding head wound on her left side (which was no further problem to fix, but she needed 2 blood packs transfused).
a splintered arm fracture on her left arm, they had to pull the triceps surgically from the bone to find all the bone pieces, then they put metal plates in the arm to fix it and so-called "fixateurs" in her arm so the arm is completely still. She now has a 10-15 inches large scar over her elbow, because they had to cut the muscle there.
a multiple broken lower left leg, including a broken part of the foot. She has "fixateurs" in her leg too.
I posted an image of a fixateur, which I found onthe internet:
http://www.hoerbuch-blog.de/snowboard_unfall/DSC00075.JPG
several squished toes on her left foot from a truck tire that was rolling over it (but that seems to be ok so far).
She willbe probably for 4 weeks in hospital and then go through various physical treatments to gain back her movement on the left leg and arm. Prognosis is that in about 10 months she will be as agood as new (except for lasting scars, but only on her leg and arm).

Sounds like some rough months ahead, but atleast there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for posting the injuries, Boon. I hope the person that hit her gets what he deserves. It makes me sick that people get so impatient that they neglect to think about other people's saftey, and choose only to care about themselves. By running that red light he probably would have at most got wherever he was going ten seconds early. It is not worth the risk to run a red light. Now because of that man's stupidity and impatients your daughter was put into a situation that could have easily cost here her life. Keep us up to date on your daughter's recovery.
