Had this concept been introduced during the PT, Lucas likely would have done that as an exercise in more pointless exposition.

So is this a error or was it really like that in the theater?

I'm not knowledgeable about which characteristics originated with the photography and which were inherent in the processing, but yes-- that was my experience.

Sorry to say I am losing faith in this project. I have followed it for a long time (and donated) and I just don't believe that it is so difficult to get the last few steps done. If the X0 guys are just obsessing over details, or creating some fancy website, then perhaps you should realise it will never be perfect and at some point just stop and release it.

Yes, at this point I really do doubt that you've done what you claim to have done.

dont be mad guys,GL will have them out in Blu-Ray and HD DVD first LOL.

but on a serious note,I never expected to see these either, and I am NOT knocking the team,it has just been sooo long, and it appears it will be even longer.
HAS anyone, and I mean anyone not from the team even seen a sample clip?

actually I have lost interest in this a long time ago, actually lost interest in ALL SW projects by everyone a long time ago.

The only thing I wish I could have seen,is how this(X0) compares to all the DVD's already out,see if it is really is waaay better than ALL.

You guys apparently don't really understand the work that has gone, and still has to go, into this project. It's too bad you're too damn impatient to let these guys do what they've been doing. They don't *have* to get it done when you *want* them to get it done, and if you donated money, that's something you should have realized before you donated, and no, they don't "owe" the people who donated anything. Does the Red Cross owe you something if you donate money to them? No, and neither do the X0 guys. I know, the two aren't the same thing, but the word "donating" does have a certain connotation to it, don't you think?

In other words, lay off, they don't have to be doing this, and they're not doing this "just for you."

--edit: I started posting this before your post, dark_jedi - it was directed toward ronlaw and fffff more than anything.

Well, I see I'm not alone in wondering what happened to the X0 project.

For what it's worth, I think the X0 team should understand that the reason some people are getting testy and impatient is because a lot of people are/were really looking forward to this edit, myself included. If people didn't care about what you guys were doing, they wouldn't bother posting and asking what's going on. What's frustrating, though, is that updates come VERY sporadically, if at all, and it's hard not to start wondering what's going on when there's no updates for months at a time.

Like ChainsawAsh, I'm not suggesting the X0 team has any obligation regarding keeping people updated on their progress, but when team members drop comments such as "expect an update on the website shortly" (not an actual quotation, but something to that effect), it would be nice to actually follow through with it.

In a nutshell, I don't think anyone's asking the team to give an estimated date of completion, to tell us what percentage of work is done/remains, or shit like that, but some news... anything... would be welcome. What is happening with the project right now? How is Laserman? These are just some of the things I personally would like to be brought up to speed on.

Lastly, I hope you guys don't abandon this project. It looks to be the best preservation of the OUT ever done, and I think it would be a shame to let it go.

The only people abandoning this project are folks like ronlaw, and he is more than welcome to do so, but the project will continue despite his personal feelings. And, fffff, I only say that because it's not the first time I've heard (read?) something like that, and it probably won't be the last, either. For as much work as I would like to be doing on the project, laserman is the man with the serious software and he's forgotten more about video than the rest of the X0 team knows combined, so overall it has to go by his timetable. In this regard, I am a bit frustrated as well, but I am certainly not blaming the guy. Shit, he was was in a coma, for crying out loud.

We have not heard from Laserman since I last posted about the email he sent us. We have no idea what's going on with him right now, but if he hasn't contacted us or posted here, it's a safe bet that he's still in the hospital recovering.

One of the things I'd like to remind people is that when we initially set out to do this project, all we wanted to do was clean up the laserdisc footage captured from the best player ever made. Now, that is merely a step of the entire process in which Laserman is the only one at the moment who has seen the end of, aside from the screenshots he has shared with MeBe, myself, and the other X0 Team members. The clips you guys want to see of our finished project are things we cannot give you at the moment. If you want to blame someone for lack of updates and outright unwillingness to give you what you want and renew your faith in this project, tell it to the guy who's been in the hospital for the past two months and has been battling a terminal illness for years. MeBe and I have every intention of helping Laserman and the X0 Project see completion, but at the moment I don't have anything new I can show you.

My plan over the last several months has been to purchase a new workstation so that I could help Laserman with the black magic process and finish our work on ANH. Unfortunately, being that I'm a college student, I've been having problems getting the funds for my new Mac Pro and as of yet am still waiting for my loan to get approved. The plan was that once I had the new computer, I would be able to help him finish the final (and most crucial) step of our preservation. Unfortunately, matters of higher precedence have been pushed to the forefront and we're much more concerned about Laserman's health than we are this project. We, just like many of you, eagerly await news on his condition.

Thanks, MeBeJedi and Zion, for sharing the details of the situation. It was much appreciated.

I hope Laserman is alright, and that we hear from him soon.
