WOOKIE GROOMER PRESENTS: ADDICTED TO STAR WARS (Released) — Page 3

Glad to hear it worked for you, none.

I wasn't planing to donwload this since I'm no longer on an unlimited usenet plan.
But, well . . . let's just say it's aptly named.
"I resemble that remark" for sure, and so too must Wookie Groomer.
Thank you for sharing it with us.

My only nitpick: I'd prefer the two trilogies be side-by-side, as in
1 4
2 5
3 6
or maybe even
4 1
5 2
6 3

If you ever revisit it in the future....

Regarding a possible ANH split-screen redux, of course you'd want to use the '77 crawl from GOUT DVD,
but IMHO the most compelling reason to revisit ANH would be to separate the soundtracks L/R (as you did ESB & RoTJ)
rather than having both mixed in both channels.
To that end, I'd say wait for Belbucus' restored mono mix, since the mono mix was "most complete" (i.e. last one finished) of the original three soundtracks.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

I just watched a bit of this today (totally forgot I even had it). It looks totally awesome! I just wish I could change the audio channel on the DVD player by number instead of just pushing the "Audio" button.

I was considering upping this to Demonoid, but it'll be a few weeks before I can get to it. If there's a lot of interest, I'll do it. Otherwise, I'm not going to waste my time.

I'm half way through a cover for this unless anyone has beat me to it. If ithis is posted to a usenet or anywhere else, it would be good to have a cover in a rom file on the disc.

Sluggo, was the cover made before the DVD arrived? WG presented 2x3 (tv size) with background images, the 3x2 format was done by a website but never released.

This project is a work of absolute insanity and genius.

Thank you Wookie Groomer for the incredible DVD and thank you Sluggo for the great cover.

(I add my support to the ESB 2.0 project)

This edit looks absolutel wonderful. I wouldl ove to see it, is there any way to get over PIF or trade? This is a fascinating way to see all aspects of the saga side by side, great way to see the parallels to the Skywalker story. Very nice Wookiegroomer!!!
Stopped they must be, on this all depends. Only a fully trained Jedi Knight with the Force as his ally will conquer Vader and his Emperor.

Everyone,

Just an update:

I am nearly finished with a suped up version of Addicted To Star Wars and will be posting it in the coming week or two. Here are the highlights of V.2.0:

Video bitrate: 15745 kbps VC1

1) The entire feature is mastered from all new High Definition sources. The original ATSW was sourced from the retail DVD's.

2) This edition has the prequels going top to bottom on the left column and the original trilogy starting top to bottom in the right column. This was in response to several people on the net stating this method would make more sense and after tinkering with it I tend to agree.

3) The "A New Hope" used in this version is my "Han Shoots First" edition with color correction and of course, the scene where Greedo shoots Han first has been restored to the original proper cut.

4) The original ATSW was mistakenly encoded at 29.97 fps instead of 23.976 fps causing the audio to drift out of sync. Also, this method caused some de-interlacing artifacts on some software players. Now, this editions fps is corrected and now in proper progressive film for smooth easy, interlace artifact free playback.

5) I moved away from encoding in MPEG2 in favor of the more efficient VC-1. I used a ridiculously high video bitrate that was not possible to do with the bloated MPEG2 encoding without creating large and unmanageable files. So even though this project is close to the same file size as the previous at 1080, (roughly 19GB) the quality is far more superior. This Mega-Edition is literally designed to be used as the highest quality reference material you can get to show off your high end systems. Assuming you have the processing power for it I think the hardware requirements might be slightly higher than expected but I don't see any performance hit at all.

6) Audio sync is fixed, as previously mentioned, due to the frame rate issue.

All in the MKV container so Media player classic or similar is recomended. Also, a stripped down 720p DVD9 with eight stereo soundtracks will be provided later on for the space starved.

The encoding of the 1080p version is complete and the visual quality is stunning and 3-D like. A MUST have for anyone with a high end display or projector as it is the ultimate show off reference material Star Wars fan or not. The EX encoded 5.1 soundtracks are in development now. No DVD edition is planned. However, anyone wanting a DVD can master one using this as the source for it.
