I'd sign one, but I really don't think it matters much. The original OT petition didn't impact George very much--it was much more succesful, I think, in bringing together fans--and it's become increasingly clear since then that Lucas doesn't really care what the long-time fans think or want. A petition only works if someone is interested in what the petitioners have to say. In this case, there's no chance we could get enough people to sign a petition that there's an economic argument to be made for taking the petition seriously. And I hate to say it, but I think that's the only way a fan petition will get in the door.
To paraphrase the Borg: "Petitions are futile."
