Anyone else a fan of this show? I love it but there is nobody at work I can chat with about it, so I want to share any thoughts and speculations and figured I could find SOMEONE here to do that with.

The new one the other night was great to me, I thought last years premier and the one after was too slow and boring. I am really wondering which direction Bobby is going to go the next few episodes since he whacked a guy for the first time and there is now strong tension between him and Tony.

It doesn't end. Life goes on as usual - just because we can't watch it anymore doesn't mean it's over. All the major story arcs have been resolved, and so what if it's not a neat and tidy ending? Life doesn't have neat and tidy endings, and since when has The Sopranos?

I thought it was quite good and fitting. That is, after letting it soak in for 24 hours. At the time I was royally pissed.

I don't watch the show, but I loved this comment on Slashdot:

Subject: ...a cop out
Message:
"That's exactly what the series ended with. You can read into it all the "meaning" you like. The fact is, the writers, directors, producers, et. al., left it wide open. "How do we end it?" they all said to themselves. Then, HBO executives, said: "Just don't. Don't end it at all. Don't have Tony dead. Don't have him in jail. Don't have him run to his new FBI friend and make a deal. Don't resolve anything. Don't do anything that will lock us into or out of possible future revenue. Just cut to black." And the rest of them, in unison, standing their in muffled awe, breathed "Genius.""

I think I agree with the subject "...a cop out". They didn't want a possible revenue source to end, just the TV show (and that's probably only "for now"). If they come up with some new ideas later, you can bet your ass there'll be a movie.

I have to say that I liked the ending. I can definitely understand the cop out opinion. However, I was hoping for something unexpected, and that's what I got. I think everyone on earth had already imagined Tony either getting whacked with his whole life flashing before his eyes, or being thrown in the slammer. They just wanted to see which one. This ending was ambiguous and surreal at the same time, which I thought was a pleasant end.

Sorry guys, I didn't like it. I don't care that they left it a little open ended, but just going blank?? That sucks to me.
