Star Wars: REBORN - The Complete Saga (* unfinished project *) — Page 7

I say go for it...finish the edit and keep it under wraps for the time being.

Or hell...if your going to let it die completely...Contact Lucasfilm and ask them for a clarification. What could it hurt...I mean, then we'd have an offical word on Fan edits. My thought is they won't respond to you at all...they don't want to give an offical word on these fan works.

*sigh* what a shame.....
InfoDroid, I wish you luck on any other project you should wish to do.

I think they were more concerned with the MySpace than the actual project. I'd say continue you, but leave the updates here. As others have pointed out, Lucasfilm tends to leave our projects alone.

Hmm...

Y'know with the official site endorsing a version of fan films, I think this thing could see some life again....especially if TALES FROM THE NEW REPUBLIC is left alone.

InfoDroid & tjdavis1138,

First, I HAVE to say your guys' trailers make the official trailers look like complete crap - AWESOME WORK!

Keep up the awesome work! I look forward to tracking your guys' progress, and hope one day to be able to see your final product.

I think I can speak for ID on this matter, and there will not be a ANH trailer. It would take too much time from working on the actual project.

With that being said I do have some good news to report. The clip of the mace/palp duel is rendering as I type this and will be uploaded tomorrow. I'll post more about the clip after I upload it.

I heard nothing, and I know nothing.

Actully that's a natural state of being for me.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

Link for Mace/Palp duel: Rebornduel1

A little background. This scene opens Return of the Jedi. We used a little bit of the original dialogue, but scraped the rest of the soundtrack and
re-built it from the ground up so we could change the music. Steve layed in all the effects for the duel and Anakin's speeder. I then went back and tried to make a 5.1 soundtrack out of it. This was much harder than either one of us anticipated and I don't ever want to do it again!!

Anyway, it's not completely done yet. I still have some effects to put in, footsteps, etc, etc. The video is encoded at a low bitrate to ensure I could upload it in a reasonable amount of time. It has also been re-edited to make the duel faster paced than before.

The link is a rar file that contains the vob's for burning to dvd or playing back with your favorite dvd software.

That's all I have for now, I'm sure Steve will chime in later.........

Yes, the very first scene of Return of the Jedi after "A long time ago...." fades into the "Padme's Ruminations" scene, which leads directly into the duel. After being left at the end of ESB not knowing for sure if Vader is telling the truth about being Luke's father, we open Jedi with the sequence which confirms the awful truth.

It appears darker because of the lower bit rate, and there are a few sound effects that somehow didn't make it into the final mix, like at the end when Palps gets knocked down you're supposed to hear him hitting the floor and his lightsaber switching off....and also the wind was more powerful when the window got shattered...we'll fix it later.

But when you consider that everything past Palps igniting his lightsaber was absolute silence, I think it turned out pretty well.

The whole goal was to change the music and quicken the pace. I think it's about as good as one of the saga's crappiest duels can get without re-filming the actors....

The music is from War of the Worlds, by the way.

Of course, you guys won't be seeing Jedi for a while, but we thought it would be fun to release a somewhat completed sequence for you to argue over.

Why?

Maybe someone else can convert it and upload it as an .avi

I uploaded it as vob files so it would be easy to burn, but also because I have no luck converting to .avi from vegas. I lose audio channels, it's crazy. When you have 14 tracks of audio for one segment, losing whole channels is bad.
