I liked the original MI, and thought II sucked (it wasn't a horrible movie overall, but was a lousy MI film.) III actually went back to its roots and got most things right, although it was a bit formulaic. I didn't release it wasn't considered a "success", but I wonder how many people were turned off by Cruise's antics to the point of not seeing the film.

That being said, I don't think a reboot with a younger Kirk and Spock (I'm presuming) is a very good idea. The idea can work when done well. I recall the TNG episode where Picard dies, and Q takes him back to his academy days being excellently written and fun to watch, but I don't think it'll work as a whole new franchise.
