Not to mention I figured that when he did go to free the slaves, (which I actually expected to see in Ep II) Watto would activate the detonator inside of Anakin, blowing his arm off. I also expected the slavery plot to tie in with the enslavement of the Wookiees. Again, Lucas just kept writing without looking back at what he'd written before or what was accepted as canon from the EU.

Instead we introduced some old guy named Dookie who cut of Anakin's arm, knew how to make force lightning stronger than the Emperor, and could do backflips from one level to the next and land on his feet. Obi-Wan was just a schmuck by Episode IV. Right?
