Originally posted by: Sluggo Thanks, JD! I might revisit the text and the logo this weekend. One or the things that was throwing me about the logo is that it looks like it was designed to be 'pre-slanted'. It is just weird looking.
I wish I would have had that shot a few years ago when I started it. I had to make the text off of the Richard Edlund pic. Serious headache.
Something interesting I found on StarWars.com's new analysis feature of Star Wars, is that originally the Star Wars title card and the actual crawl were together like the Episode title and the crawl are now. And that the Star Wars tittle came up from the bottom of the screen just like the rest of the crawl. That would have looked different.
All this talk of Star Wars logos reminded me of this article on the logo's creation, by the woman who designed it (can't remember if this is from an old OT.com thread or if I came across it elsewhere...)

Thanks Marvolo. I actually read the very same thing, clarifying what I had already assumed about the old crawl going on the photographic evidence. But it's good to get confirmation.
S7en, thanks for those links, they are very interesting indeed.

I think if you use an old version of the crawl on the DVD, it might make sense to use a different take of the main title theme. The hidden track on the first SE-soundtrack contains all 5 takes that were recorded for the main theme, and I especially like the opening "hit" in the first 3 takes, since it contains a little "intro" note. (maybe even a montage of all 5 different takes might work, by just playing the first few secons of each version, each starting with a different logo design... ah, well, just brainstorming here).
That was already an idea I had. I like those alternate takes of the opening theme.
You know, the more I look at this project the more I respect the work that OCP put into Deleted Magic. This is a big project, make no mistake. Probably the biggest I will have tackled yet.

If I remember right, that early crawl on the editdroid set was a prototype and was done before any decent photographs were available of the actual crawl.

Thirty years ago, an unheralded film known as Star Wars opened in theaters and took audiences on a groundbreaking journey to a galaxy far, far away. It instantly seized the public’s imagination, and three decades later still claims that grasp. Now, a new special from The History Channel seeks to understand why the emotional impact of the Star Wars Saga remains as relevant as ever.
STAR WARS: THE LEGACY REVEALED is produced by Prometheus Entertainment in association with Lucasfilm Ltd. Executive Producer is Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Burns (Empire of Dreams, Look, Up in the Sky!). Executive Producer for The History Channel is Beth Dietrich Segarra

I don't know if you saw this, Mr. Davdar, but the latest issue of Star Wars Insider has storyboards of the Falcon/TIE Fighter sequence, and there's quite a few of them. I just wanted to give you a heads-up on this, since I've never seen them anywhere else before. Maybe I'll buy a copy of that and scan them into a computer when I can.

Things are going very slowly at the moment. I barely seem to have the time do work on this project. When I get the the autumn/winter I will definately have more time. Please keep sending your ideas and suggestions though. I really do appreciate them.
Talking of which, if anyone has scanned in all the matte paintings from the new book, please contact me.

We assumed it was food poisoning, but my 2 year old started doing the same yesterday afternoon. Must be some kind of 24 hour bug. Thanks for your concern Slugs.

My G4 dual processor mac's graphics card fan gave up recently. Unfortunately I didn't realise it before the graphics card got fried. I am now having major trouble finding the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB (Mac Edition) in stock in the UK. I am looking to buy either new or second hand in the next couple of weeks. Either that or I will invest in a newer G5 system. Either way, things are going to be more delayed.

Still no official name Andy! The folder is called "Contructing Star Wars", though I doubt that will be the final name. Thanks for the link Paul.
The good news is, the G4 is back up and running. To be honest with you all I have barely touched this project since may. I've been out of the country so much that when I am back home I have so much else to do. But soon it should get some attention. In fact I am currently looking through what I have done so far. So expect an update soon.
