Alright, Adywan, it's time for another crazy idea from SSWR! ;P

So the SE entrance to mos eisley works to some extent, right?
Well, there's been one shot that has bugged me for quite some time.
It's the shot of the droid smacking the floating droid, and the camera then follows the speeder to reveal the rest of the city.
This is not about the droid crap (thank you for removing it!).
It makes since that Lucas added this particular shot. It's a nice entrance to the city. It lets the audience know where they are.
But someone once pointed out to me that the camera move would not have been possible back in '77.
Well, maybe not impossible, but it certainly would not have been as smooth a tracking shot as the SE shot has made it.
That shot takes me out of the movie, because it's so fast and so precise!
And, then, of course, the CGI is pretty darn bad…

So...with that being said, here’s something I stumbled onto:
mosshotidea

Here’s what I did:
I reversed, flipped, and slowed down the shot.
I had originally planned to simply slow the footage. But I continued to play with it and this is what I came up with.
Maybe this is just me, but the overall staging and movement is much better.

Here are some obvious problems and possible solutions with this shot idea:
1. The speeder is backwards
Well, the original speeder would have to be painted out and then replaced. If you could find a shot of the speeder from the right angle it might work.
The speeder IS pretty far away...it might work. Maybe you could get tellen to make you a model of it…?

2. The smoke in the bg is reversed
Paint it out? Overlay it with new smoke elements?

Maybe this is too ridiculously hard to do. But, again, I felt I should throw it out there. Thanks for listening to me babble!
