And the new barrel-roll shot of the X-wings... I love it.

Perhaps this is redundant, but do you plan on releasing a just color-corrected version, since you put so much detailed effort into it?
No. A lot of tweaking to the colour has been done after the FX shots were finished so it would be too much extra work for me to do.

What's the Astromech jump cut everyone is referring to?

I've never understood why they cut that dialogue anyway. It was as inocuous as what Obi-Wan said earlier in the movie.

I notice that the flimsy Y-Wing still rocks around and nearly falls apart when people are clambering around on it. Oh well.

Adywan, I know this is old buisness but I can't remember the final decision. Were you going to add the tombstones from Episode II in to the one shot they would be visible in. I feel that if this were done it would be a great tie between the prequels and the OT.

When Owen Lars does a push-up, he doesn't push up - he pushes Tatooine down.
He probably had the headstones removed because they interfered with the regular service paths of his lower-tech droid servants.
Or, the sand kept "duning" them over, since they provided a windstop.

Adywan, I finally had a chance to go over your compiled list of changes. While I personally don't agree with the necessity for all of them, I am very excited to see what the final product will be like, those changes included. I've always been one of the people that says do whatever you want to do with this. If people like it, they will like it, and if they don't, then they don't have to watch it. Good luck with everything!

Doing the FX work for the Death Star battle is taking more time than i had first hoped, but i'm going to be taking my time on this section. I want it to be more in line with the ROTJ battle. So more ships and dogfights but this means twice as much work as i had originally planned.
This would be great, adywan. I've always believed the space battle in ROTJ is still to this day the best battle in any sci-fi film ever. Be careful not to add too many ships though, adywan. Remember in the film they specifically say there are 30 rebel ships.
Keep up the good work, adywan. Don't rush, there's no hurry. I'd rather your edit be done right than done quick.
Happy Birthday Star Wars. The big three-oh and still kicking ass after all these years.

I asked him about this the other day. He sez that he tried a few attempts, but it didn't look convincing so he dropped it.

that would be a bear for me to correct.
PS, whoever sent adywan the explosions disc, any chance I could have a copy as well please?

Adywan it might have been more time consuming but you should have made some sort of video diary showing what changes and processes you went through to get this far, but I guess your editing grew from a small project to this monster
Keep up the great work, your going to be a legend

I wouldn't be able to do it with the original background because that had to go because of the mic. I'll see if i can add a star field close to the original for you when i get some time. Also PM me about the disc.

I was wondering about the scene where Han is chasing the Stormtroopers and he gets to the hanger section and theres a huge number of troopers in there. I just thought the number of troopers in the hanger is over the top and rather cartoonish and I didnt know if you were doing anything with that shot or not.

No, I'm not. I kind of like it the way it is now although the compositing had some major colour issues, which i've managed to sort out so it looks a little more natural now.

I was watching your new final battle clip and when red squadron are approaching the death star, there are inconsistencies between the background stars and when you look out the front windows looking at the death star.
forwards, the stars barely move because everyone is heading straight at the death star.
when we look back at the pilots, the stars are moving right to left diagonally quite a bit. so it creates a bit of inconsistency.

Just screened Star Wars last night to kinda sorta celebrate 30 years and I noticed that not only are the microphones supposed to be on the left side of the pilots' helmets, but the mic wire should also be on the left side. Any way you can further tweak the flipped Red leader shot to deal with this issue?

I had the stars moving in that fashion because i was originally going to have Death Star further around Yavin so they would have to be turning around the planet to reach it. But i just couldn't pull it off (did one last attempt after i posted the clip) so the stars in the clip move faster than they would do if they were heading straight. I've now redone the stars and they move hell of a lot slower now.

Thanks for spotting that one. It's been fixed and the wire is now on the correct side.

1) I'm in favor, along with others, to changing all English words in the film to Aurabesh. However I'm against doing this with numbers. Numbers on countdown clocks, target computers, etc, should be left alone. Numbers are universal and all cultures understand them.
2) I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before. Every time we see the Death Star computer tracking the the rebel moon base we hear the imperial targeting computer talking. But if you pay attention the time on the countdown clock doesn't match what time the computer is giving. Is it possible for you to fix the time discrepancy between the voice and the clock?

I won't be changing numbers but i will be adding the Aurabesh language. I agree with you about the numbers, after all if you look on the wall at docking bay 94 it has plain old numbers so no need to change them.

Yes, this is one of the things i am changing. It's going to be a brand new display with the correct countdown.
