TCM: An Experiment In Fear
Retro Horror Remix
what is it about? A much shorter, more intense, yet still artistic take on the original movie. large product photo
original film name: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
new film name : TCM: An Experiment In Fear
edit crew name : Retro Horror Remix
Date Original Film Was Released : 1974
Date Edit Was Released : May 10, 2007
Original Runtime : 84 min
New Runtime : 25 min
Amount of time Cut/Added : about 1 hour
Cuts removed/added/extended :
* No more Franklin, I loved his character, but he just didn't fit with this cut.
* Sally's character is no longer related in any way to the rest of the teens. Her kidnapping and murder(!) happens before the rest of the events.
* Entire original beginning is gone, as well as the original ending. Movie starts with Sally busting into "The Cook"'s gas station. It then goes in an entirely different direction after that.
* "The Hitchhiker"'s character is kept to a minimum.
* The motivations behind the family of killers are changed.
* Skinny Puppy's "Fritter (Stella's House)" is used in the soundtrack over a re-vamped "bone room" scene.
* Tons of deleted footage has been re-instated. Including an all new credit sequence.
* Running time cut down from 84 minutes to 25 minutes.
* Score at the end has more reverb.
* Aspect ratio changed from 1.78:1 to 1.85:1 for a slicker, different look.
* The corpse monument is now shown over a setting sun versus in the middle of the hot afternoon.
* Plus a few minor edits done for pacing.

Your intention for this fanedit:
To create an experimental version of the film. Shorter, more intense, yet still artistic. I did not intend to "replace" the original or "fix" it either. This is one of my ALL TIME favorite films! My sole purpose was to create a new experience for the hardcore Texas Chain Saw Massacre fan. Fun, scary and WAYYYYY different...this one begs to be viewed more
than once!
Your way to achieve your intention:
Re-arrange many scenes, remove some characters, add additional music and deleted scenes as well as shorten
the film up.
Hardware and software information:
* Sony Vegas and DVD Architect. Edited on an HP Pavilion
mx70 with Windows XP.
Additional Comment: My first release.
Time needed for the edition: Overall about 8 days.
persons involved: Myself, and my boyfriend (who graduated from Audio Engineering) helped with some of
the audio (fades and volume).
