I love this series. It's actually my favorite series of all time after Mega Man.

While the newer FPS games are good, they are nowhere near as fun as the original masterpieces. Super Metroid (Metroid 3) is the best game of the series and then I'd say the original for the NES is the second best. Metroid 2 for Game Boy is the third best. After that you can rank the current games in any way you like and I won't care.

I still say Metroid Fusion is the best. The design of the levels and the fact that you're given a basic sense of direction unlike in Super Metroid, plus the new moves like hanging off edges and such.

Hanging off of ledges is cool, but I don't like how Fusion leads Samus around. It seems to remove a lot of the exploration aspect to Metroid and that's my favorite part of almost any game.

There's still plenty of exploration, and you're not constantly confused and wondering around aimlessly for hours on end like in Super Metroid.

Megaman 2> every other game ever made hehe. I'm not that big a fan of Metroid to be honest.
