ROTS Disc: Who is Charlotte?

 (Edited)

So I recently popped my offical Revenge of the Sith DVD into my computer’s DVD drive, and the volume label comes up as “Charlotte_Disc1”. What the hell does that mean? Anyone know?

It is code they use so that the DVD is harder to leak in the time period before it makes its release. By calling it Charlotte it is not obvious to anyone other than the ones to whom it concerns that the DVD is Revenge of the Sith. At least this is what I have heard.

stolen from millenniumfalcon.com:

• "Charlotte" codename for ROTS.
• "Laura" codename for TPM.
• "Mary" = AOTC.
• "Eve (White)" = ANH SE.
• "Eve (Black)" = ESB SE.
• "Jane" = ROTJ SE.
• "Sunrise" The OUT release.

They're all named after 20th Century Fox titles.

They forgot to include,

• "Drusella" = HS.

(I think thats supposed to be one of the names of the ugly sisters from Cinderella anyhow)

No, I actually think the HS was code named Medusa, but I could be wrong... It is interesting though, that with TPM and AOTC they changed the actual disc title before release, but left ROTS titled Charlotte. Must have been an oversight.

Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.

Some have the actual ISO name on it and some don't. I'm guessing they're from different factories or something.

Mine is a PAL version, maybe that's the difference?

Heh, I should've checked your info first. It's definitely from another factory if it's PAL.

My TPM is a Laura, actually.

Ah, mine TPM is a R 2, I have never seen a R 1, that would explain the difference. My AOTC is a R 1 though, and I am pretty sure its titled STAR_WARS_EPISODE_II or something of the sort. Are there any AOTC discs named Mary?

My Tpm discs are 'Laura' as well. Pretty sure my others are all normal.

My TPM & AOTC are labeled normal (Phantom_Menace_1, Attack_of_the_Clones or whatever) All are region 1 US & Canada.

Some of the ROTS discs made it into production as Charlotte. It wasn't caught until after they had been pressed and were off to retailers. Once they caught it, they changed it. It's not region or NTSC vs PAL specific. I have an R1 disc that is Charlotte.

Apparently the same thing happened with the others (as the other posters here have pointed out).
