He was at the funeral at the end. I'm certain it's him standing near the front in a couple of shots. I don't know why he's there exactly, but I'm guessing it's out of respect for a former schoolmate?

One other thing: I had to laugh at the end when Sandman tells Peter that he's sorry for unintentionally killing Ben, and then floats away into the NY skyline. Aside from the fact that it came off looking way too sappy, it's ridiculous that Peter so readily lets Marko go, especially after this guy just robbed banks and stole money, possibly injured/killed cops, and just a few minutes beforehand, beat the living crap out of Peter with a giant sand fist. What, saying "Sorry" makes it all better? Insane, I tell you!
