Has whoever's taking a crack at the second Munchausen disc gotten anything done yet? If not, can I get the files mailed to me so I can try to do something with them?

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I'm on the edge of my computer chair for this AoBM project. I have the 'official' release, but haven't watched it in ages, so this should be a real treat.

All,

I've taken the project as far as I can, and I will shortly be handing off all materials to a few different people in hopes that they will be able to get the second disc done. The first disc has been done for a while. Somewhat fittingly, right as I was about to burn discs with the source material, my video card crapped out and that computer is out of commission for the moment. I have other discs floating around with the material on it, so it's not lost or anything, but just another setback for a project wrought with setbacks.

Sorry for the delay,
--bdev

PS - the deleted scenes are from workprints, so there are lots of print damage and missing sound elements. I don't believe that a watchable extended version could be constructed.

PPS - According to Gilliam (from the book Gilliam on Gilliam), Criterion offered him the chance to make a restored cut (to the original 3+ hour running time) when the laserdisc was made, a la Brazil. This project was never started due to financial constraints (the projected cost was 250k dollars at the time) and because Gilliam was burned out at that point. Perhaps with newer digital editing equipment, the cost could now be lower. Columbia certainly doesn't seem to give a damn about it, so maybe it's obtainable.

Any chance someone would be able to upload the 1st disc while we wait for the second?
Can't wait to see this one bdev, thanks for all the hard work!

I second that - would happily seed the first one as soon as I've downloaded it.

Also I had a thought - if the extras on the second disc are causing a problem could they be converted into dvd rom extras - I might be able to do something with them to give them a readable interface. Just a thought but whoever is currently dealing with it give me a shout if you think there is anything I can do.

First, turn on your PM's.

I also want to participate in Demonoid very much.
Please also give me an invitation code if you please.
Thank you for your consideration.

I was just watching the Fisher King dvd again and I have to say brilliant work. It's lovely and perfect, spot on. I was curious where we were with Baron Munchausen, if any compiling is still needed or anything else for that matter let me know.

bdev was supposed to send me the raw files for Munch a little while ago, but it seems like life's caught up with him because he hasn't as of yet. I'll be taking a crack at compiling it when he does, though.

Couldn't we just get a numbered photo "slideshow" of the extras that proved so problematic? It wouldn't be like a laserdisc/DVD, but at this rate, it would be an easy, quick fix.

or save em all as jpg's and whack them into a flash based slideshow (or similar) and have it as CDROM extras....

hell if you send me the PSDs I'll create the slideshows then send them to whoever is mastering the disks

I have a copy of the laserdisk I just won off of ebay on its way, should be here in a few days. If bdev doesn't beat me to it I'll make a dvd, for sure it won't be as good as bdevs but it'll be something. I might have to mail the dvd to someone to make a torrent of, my upload speed is horrendous.
I'll keep ya'll updated.

I have all the raw materials for the Munchausen DVDs. I've just gotta spend the time trying to put it together.

If you wanna take a crack at compiling it, be my (and Brad's) guest. I can copy the files for you.

Be warned, though, there's a fuckton of material and it's mostly menu screens. That's why I haven't put it together yet, it's just very daunting.
