Original theatrical trailer from 1977 (wanted)

Has it ever been available on any of the releases? I'm talking about the very first trailer (at least I think it is). It has a sort of monotone voice-over, scenes from the film, no music other than a steady pulsing, and Star Wars is written in a plain font - not the familiar logo.

I'd like to have a good copy and would be willing to buy one of the SE releases to get it - just long enough to copy only the trailer to DVD and throw the SE away, or give it away. I'd strip the audio track and put it at the beginning of my soundtrack CD.

Thanks in advance.

Love this trailer...

...sells the film in a completely different way to what we we all know and love...

...couple of alternative angles in it too...

It is on the 2004 Bonus Documentary Discs. For SW(ANH) trailers, it has:

-1976 Christmas Teaser Trailer
-1977 Release Trailer
-1977/78 Re-Release Trailer
-1997 SE Trailer
-Also there are 3 TV Spots

The 1976 Teaser Trailer is very eerie cause it doesn't contain John Williams' Score, and has a more haunting tone to it.

Yeah - that's the one I'm thinking of. It just has that ominous pulsing score, quietly playing while it alternates between scenes from the film and the title slowly coming from far away. It is a much more serious view of the film. That's the one I saw as a kid. When 3PO rises up out of the oil bath, says who he is and Luke says hello - I was hooked.

Thanks, man. I'll stop at Best Buy on the way home. Maybe they have that 2004 release. I'll be sure to check the packaging to make sure it mentions the bonus material.

It's easy to tell just by the packaging. The '04 release has the silver box (or gold in pan and scan), and that's the one you want. The '05 release (without the bonus material) is the original poster artwork box.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

If you use ebay there are ususally a few bonus discs at a time for good prices, if you don't also want the SE movies that come with them.

Is this the disc with the '76 and '77 trailers? I've seen this listed as the 2004 bonus disc.

I picked up that bonus disc for $2.99 from a secondhand shop two days ago.
I only wish my copy had the gold artwork instead of silver, to match my GOUT set.
(The bonus disc itself is identical in both gold & silver boxes. Only the case art differs.)

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Anyone know what the music soundtrack to this trailer is from? I really like it too.
We've analyzed their attack, sir, and there is a danger.

Thanks again, fellas. The Bonus disc arrived yesterday and I have already extracted the audio of the original trailer. In about 6 hours, it will be on my soundtrack CD.

I believe it 'Winter' from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons
