Just an idea in passing - sorry if already covered.
To resolve why obi-wan would just leave anakin to die.

I wonder if it would be possible to show the emperor arriving early - some kind of reaction shot from obi-wan - a long look at anakin lying below him, unable to decide what to do or resolve his feelings - and then he runs off because he would be captured if he stayed a moment longer.
