When Star Wars was shown in theaters with the Dolby Stereo mix there actually were 2 boxes in the theater? It was actually designed for stereo/2 boxes? It's not like they had maybe 4 boxes in the theatre and played it as double stereo?

And when it was played with the mono mix? There was just one box in the theatre?
