Ok, Here's a few more comparison screenshots for you.

Removed the blue haze and fixed vaders red eyes.
http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/7906/falconyavinge4.jpg
Fixed the sky. This shot originally had the clouds as if a storm was coming but the shot after the sky was pretty clear so i changed the sky so it is now closer to the following shot
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/444/r2falconxd2.jpg
Fixed the background error of the shot of R2 after the TIE fighter attack.
http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/1883/rebelhangervb0.jpg
The new Rebel hanger. You will notice that the new shot is flipped. this is because the following shots were originally flipped which was very noticeable by Hans holster & R2's markings. I have flipped the shots to correct this so the hanger has been flipped too.
http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/4861/troopersal0.jpg
As you can see the original had some colour balancing issues, Hans jacket has a blue glow, oversaturated blue walls & the troopers old & new just don't match. The new shot still has some minor work left to do on it
http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/7272/helmetgp7.jpg
When the pilots are getting into their ships their helmet insignias were blue, but there was no blue squadron in the final film. Changed them all to red.
http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/6691/pilotzq5.jpg
And lastly... As the pilots approach the Death Star they fly past Yavin but the in following shots it just disappears. Added Yavin to fix this error

Adywan, in the youtube trailer, the rebel transport ship (the one battling with the star destroyer) still has that red hue to it left over from the 2004 dvds. Would you agree with me that it was orginally more white than red?

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

Wow, I like the addition on the new hangar, everything there looks awesome, I keep getting more excited for this release.

I agree with this post a lot.... also some fake CRT scanlines might help to lower the tech level as well

Well I think they are supposed to be StarWars low tech, not Earth low tech. Personally I liked the new targetting screens, and even though I see the point someone made about having chevrons instead of the shape of the ships, remember that later on the trench run the Tie-Fighters have the shape of X-wings on their targetting screens. BTW Adywan are you planning something for those screens?

Adywan,

Great work, as always.

I'm only seeing three comparison pics. Everything else is a broken link.

Not only do the TIEs have X-wing targets on their screens, but Luke's X-wing display also shows a TIE fighter in a certain scene.

the first dive on the falcon by the tie's time index 1.29.26.17
if you look REALLY closely, you will see that the topside quad mount on the falcon is putting backwards, ie towards this tie.
but you've got it firing forwards.

OOOPS. Didn't notice that. i guess i need my glasses changed. I guess you have to be looking pretty close though to spot that so i might leave it as it is.

I also noticed this (before I read Tellan's comment).

Can you make the cannon fire toward the camera instead?

Thanks Adywan....

I know you said before that this will be released in PAL format and that you'd consider releasing it in NTSC format as well...are you thinking along those lines? I would just like to encourage you to do both, it would make life a lot more enjoyable for those of us in NTSC land.....

thanks again for the trailer.

Ady: Glad my suggestion on the displays helped.

In regards to the Falcon firing right away in that "through the TIE window" shot, you are absolutely right that the Falcon WOULD be firing right away. Of course, it could also be true that it took Han a few seconds to line up the target before he fired, but this leads us to another discussion.

When working on BSG, or really when anyone is doing anything on a movie, there is always the balance of what is real vs what works dramatically. For example, if you've seen it, I did the big seqeunce where the Pegasus takes on the 3 Baseships and rams one. There was the very valid question "why would the Baseship just sit there? Why doesn;t it jump or move out of the way?"

Well, first of all, if it jumped or moved out of the way, we wouldn't have our story. But the point was well taken so I felt it was important to justify the action, so my take on it was that the LAST thing the Cylons would expect from humans is that they would ram their ship. They have been protecting their fleet to the death, plus the Cylons didn't know the Pegasus was deserted, so they really were taken by total surprise.

In the case of your shot, I still strongly feel the pacing and grace of the shot are hindered by having all that laser fire back and forth right from the start. Your eye is drawn all over the place and you don't have a chance to feel that moment of dread and suspence as the Falcon is being locked into the sites of the TIE window.

However, you can have everything you want by letting the Falcon get lined up, the TIE starts firing and a half second later the Falcon fires back. It's totally reasonable to assume that it takes Han a second to aquire HIS target. There's enough logic to justify it and I think it would help preserve a wonderful shot from the film that should largely stay untouched.

Remember, I think everything else you've done with that sequence is great - this is the ONE shot I felt should stay closer to the original.

Mojo_LA, I wanted to say I love BSG's space battles, I like the series a lot, I don't want to speak for Adywan but just wanted to ask, IF Adywan were to need help for new shots on the DeathStar battle, would you be willing to help him with new model shots given your experience with them??
I wish I had a Kryptonite cross, because then you could keep both Dracula AND Superman away.

Mojo man, you really worked on BSG? That's pretty cool!

Oh and I agree with you about the TIE shot. It does make more dramatic sense.
But Adywan, what you're doing is really, really good man, can't wait to see the finished film.

I just hope after all this you fixed that one little thing that's bugged me for 30 years, the thing I keep going on and on and on about.

That bloody grain of sand on Chewies foot....Just please get rid of it!

They're really getting hammered. I've had no success at all. Oh well. I'm sure all the pics are amazing as has been Ady's work thus far.

Ok, so I've looked through practically every CD/DVD I have of data and still can't find the InfoDroid clip. I did however find pretty much every single clip Adywan has posted here, as well as an assortment of other crazy stuff I have collected through the years. I'll still keep an eye out for the clip, it might be on a disk in my basement, buried under Christmas decorations.

I'd be more than happy to help Adywan, but from what I gather most of the work he is doing is 2D/compositing... as in taking elements from one part of the film and "cutting and pasting" it into others (with a lot of manipulation).

I mostly specialize in 3D work, and I don't know if he's actually planning to go as far as creating entirely new effects shots.

On the other hand, I don't know where Ady lives, but based on what I've seen I can almost guarantee him a job in Hollywood doing this type of work!

*cough*

did I hear someone offer 3D advice/help?

I'm working on a few shots at the moment that could do with a bit of advice because I'm more of a modeller/texture man rather than animator.

I while back Adywan talked about new model shots for the final battle but I think he didn't like what he had so far so he scrapped the idea, that's why I was asking.

I think I may have found InfoDroid's clip, named "duel.avi". The date is right (12/5/05), and the size is a whopping 120 MB or so (iirc). Does anyone know if this is the right one? InfoDroid?

Yeah. I think that's probably it. Haha... You guys are sooo resourceful.

I don't remember what the quality is (since it's like, the second clip I ever edited), and I'm not sure how it's really relevant to Adywan's project, but it would be interesting to see it again. I guess just to compare where we chose to add the music. I remember I edited the duel a slightly different way too. I flipped a few shots and I think I tried to make it a little faster paced to go with the music. Again, I don't remember how successful the result was, but I think I remember being pleased with it. Haha....I've learned a LOT since then.

The file is 118 MB. I've never used any of those sites, and I assume I need some kind of paying account to upload something that big. I don't won't to kill my own website's bandwith with this file.

Rapidshare is free to use but its limit is 100mb per file, but if you use winrar to compress the avi then you can set it to split it to 2 rar files that can be rejoined once downloaded. This way you can upload the video as 2 files that will go on rapidshare
