The original "V" got released theatrically away from the Yanks, too.

Looking down on 'made for TV' productions seems a bit snobbish to me, really. It's only in the money department that they come up short...there's often as much effort put into the acting, writing, and effects as their bigger budgeted siblings.

Yeah, there's tonnes of crappy stuff, but there are tonnes of crappy big screen flicks too.

I think that the Ewok films would not be any better or worse had they been made expressly for the big screen.

Made for TV movies just have an air about them. I know some big screen movies blow, but made for TV are pretty much B movies. I was surprised that we do things like that, something that isn't good enough for us we ship over to you.

I have to disagree about the Ewok movies not being better on the big screen, if they had been then they would have had a larger budget, which would have helped some. And they would have brought in more people to run over the script. You can be sure the stop motion stuff would have been better done.
They have a severely made for TV feel about them, if they were filmed for a theatrical release, that feel would at least not be there.

are you sure about that, I live in France, and it was only broadcasted. Do you know which territories had V in theaters ?

I saw "Caravan of Courage" in Bexleyheath Cinema in Kent, UK. I was very dissappointed at the lack of Han, Luke & Leia.

On a side note the recent film "The Queen" was intended for TV and it ended up winning Oscars!

I may have been mistaken on that front. I went back and checked the email I (mis)remembered it from...

Kenny Johnson said:

"My mini-series of V, shot six years earlier, was framed and shot in 1.85 to 1 ratio because we expected a foreign theatrical release. On the V DVD it is presented in that correct 1.85 format -- and looks very good."

So, they were expecting one, but I have no idea if they actually got one anywhere. Sorry about that.

No, that's the Warwick Davis & Eric Walker "Making Of" film that you're thinking of there. Incidentally, that's rather amazing to see there as it had previously only resided in Eric & Warwick's hands along with a select few friends of theirs. But the 11-minute professional featurette, I haven't seen that anywhere else yet.

So, again, the auction ended... did someone from here win it? I really hope so...

I have a copy of this tape winging it's way to me. I'm hoping my Panasonic DVD Recorder/VCR will copy a true NTSC tape. If not I may need to appeal to somebody with an NTSC VCR.
I would like to do an Ewok supplementary disc as a release of mine. If anyone has some material to include I would appreciate it. I have the Eric Walker CD of BTS images and also a so-so copy of the original UK TV spot. PM me if you have anything.

You should see if someone can get you a copy of this to include.

There is also a trailer for the US VHS release of The Ewok Adventure out there. I only have it in file format.

That is truly hideous. My French isn't great but is she singing the storyline to the movie? It would make a terrific Easter Egg though.
